I've always been skeptical of Olive Oil in soaps and have had some bad experience with a couple.

All evidence has been buried.  All tapes have been erased.

I can't speak for shaving soaps with olive oil but I use it as a base in my bath soaps and love it. It cost more than a lot of other oils but I feel it's worth it. There are a few different grades and I don't know which one CRSW uses but I like refined olive for my bath soaps.

Mine just arrived in the mail this afternoon. I'm looking forward to trying it out! Sniffed from the tub the scent is lighter than I expected, but pleasant. I'll have to see how the fragrance develops when it lathers.

Used Oliva for the first time and I'm pretty darned impressed! This is my first CRSW soap and not sure why I waited so long to try them. The scent is great which is a big plus in my book. The soap is incredibly slick and as a SR user very welcome. I was a little worried about the ease of lathering but no problem, lasted my usual three passes and a touch up. My face felt good afterwards, nice and soft and no need for my trusted Nivea balm. Does anyone know when they are going to make this with some other scents?

Really comes down to performance for me too. I would say that veggie soaps have come a LONG way over the past decade from my point of view.

Totally agree with you on this Kevin. Every Tallow based soap isn't going to perform like MWF, Tabac, or even Arko. I'm really enjoying my Soap Commander Soaps right now and they really perform well, and give good skin protection after the shave. I want to try the WSP Formula T Bay Rum Shaving Soap next. Their Pumpkin Spice veggie soap performed well but the cinnamon in it caused some irritation, and redness to my skin so I had to sell it. I might try Blackbeard and see how my skin reacts to it.

I had my first shave with Oliva just now, and I'm sad to say it wasn't great. Not bad, mind you, but nothing particularly excellent, and not at the same level for me as the standard (and v2) CRSW offerings. The slickness was there, but there was almost no residual slickness which always makes things trickier. The lather lacked a sense of richness and moisture for me. On top of it, I'm not particularly crazy about the scent, which though mild, has a familiar aromachemical (maybe a dash of dihydromyrcenol?) that I'm not fond of. Post-shave felt clean, but nothing remarkable.

Ah well! I'll likely give it another go at some point, but given how many great soaps I have (including other CRSW tubs at the top of the list), this is no great loss, and was worth checking out.

Hello there:

It seems like this soap is a frenzy streak. Every one is buying it. Is it really that good? I have the bergamota V1 soap and it is quite amazing but is the Olive push the standard up?

I will have to get myself one to try it. But for now I will have to wait a long time since everytime I look in its web page, the same message keep popping up "Out of Stock"

I won't be trying it because I like their original Select line with tallow. If I want vegan/veggie soap then I will buy it from those artisans who specialize in those types of soaps such as Soap Commander, Catie's Bubbles, Tim's, MdC, TR, etc. That doesn't mean CRSW can't make a great veggie soap though, but I highly doubt it will outperform the Select lines. I see he has a new Select v.2 line as well, but since he removed coconut oil and sweet almond oil I will probably stick to the regular Select line for any future purchases. I suppose if he ever discontinues the original then I may try the v.2.
