It disappeared into our stomachs too quickly for photos, but this morning we had a late breakfast of cream toast, which my wife learned to make in Illinois.  I'm not sure if it is a Midwest or Southern dish, but it's quite good.  Toasted bread served with a bowl of sweet white cream sauce for dipping.

Cream toast again for breakfast today. Butter, flour, milk, sugar, and vanilla. I'm sure people have been eating variants of this for hundreds of years.

This morning we had scrambled eggs and Bisquick biscuits with Southeastern Mills Country Gravy and added sausage. Very little cooking from scratch in this household.

churchilllafemme, what kind of bread is that? It looks delicious… (I miss the dark rye bread I was used to when I lived in northern Europe.)
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Where did you buy the gravy mix? Did you use a store brand or Jimmy Deans ground sausage?

It's Franz Sweet Dark bread from Safeway.

The Southeastern Mills gravy mix came from Safeway, the sausage from Trader Joe's.

We are from Maryland. Just south enough for sausage and biscuits to be a staple for breakfast. They don't serve it in restaurants in NH. My wife doesn't like it so I have not made any in years.

You pic has me salivating and I will have to rectify that.
