Paul, I find this very interesting. The description for these new Derby Premiums sounds very much like the make-up of the now discontinued Bluebird blades, which I understand were made in the same factory, or at least by the same company.

Can you offer any insight into how close these may be to the good old Bluebirds?

Derby have said that these will only be made with the highest quality Swedish steel they can source. The EXTRA is made with steel from mixed sources.

Also "there is also progress in the overall quality, thanks to new processes".

I can't comment about the Bluebird.
