Hi all,
This is a little trick I use to clean the the internal thread on a three piece razor.
I just take a cotton tip screw it in all the way in and out.
I have never had the tip come of the stem.
You will be surprised by the dirt and scum that comes out if you have never cleaned the handle thread.
You can even use a little detergent and water if its really dirty (example you purchased a vintage razor).
Or if you want to clean and lubricate the internal thread I just put a few drops of 3 in 1 oil on the cotton tip.
As some of you have some pricey razors it pays to take care of the thread.

Works with Modern and vintage thread sizes.

This is what I buy they are cheap and available at chemist warehouse. (In Australia)
Cheers.

The original US brand is "Q Tips" and has been around for many decades. That's all I use to clean razor handles and just about anything else that needs close work. But don't put them in your ear.

Q-tip in Canada too. I’ve never seen any other brand. Swissper? Good tip though, better to stick it in your screw hole than in your ear hole. Apparently that’s dangerous.

I stuck a Q-tip into the threaded hole on the handle of my new gold plated Rockwell 6S. Gross. Time to thoroughly clean.

It’s also a good idea to use a cotton tip dipped in 3in1 oil.
Before you use a brand-new razor to remove any metal filings left behind in the thread from Tapping the thread.
With the added bonus of lubricating it before you attach the head and base plate.
Cheers.

Use mineral oil to lubricate threads. You don't want synthetic ester lube dripping onto your face.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.
