You know, we get all caught up with the latest and greatest.  And for good reason, some of the latest and greatest have really put the established players in the market to shame!

But there really are some old school players still worthy of talking about I figure.  The one I particularity like is The Gentlemen's Refinery.  It's more a summer(ish) soap for me, in that it's light, but it still protects and lathers like a champ.  Moreover, with the aftershave they make, your face feels as good and soft as anything on the market today.

I really like my Gentlemen's Refinery.  I don't think I have room in my Max 6 soaps rotation right now to replace it - just too much other great stuff to try.  But I will be getting it again.  No doubt.

Mitchells Wool Fat - it took me about a week to get it dialed. It's a hard soap and will last a long time.

Any of the vintage tallow Penhaligon's and Floris soaps and matching aftershaves are worth mentioning.

Tabac shave soap. I will always have some in my den; which is now down to only three brands as a matter of personal policy: Mike’s, B&M and Tabac.

Those are three pretty good choices.

Two that come to mind for me are vintage Roger & Gallet L'Homme Shaving Soap and vintage Old Spice Shaving Soap. The performance of these hard soaps was just phenomenal and I miss the fact that they are no longer generally available.

Tabac will always have a place. Great thick lather and STOUT scent!

Also DR Harris Windsor is fantastic as well as their aftershave.
