I now have two shaves with Chypre Vert. I like the scent on this one very much. I can definitely get the commonality with Chypre Conifere, but with a floral twist. Very bright and uplifting, This is going to be especially nice in the Spring. I used very light pressure when loading due to the softness of the soap. It felt similar to loading CRSW Glide. In no time, I had tons of shiny slick lather. It took plenty of water. My shave with the usual single ring + Kai blade was great. No nicks. And the scent was quite strong during the shave. My only issue was my skin feeling quite dry afterward. I waited about 10 minutes after both shaves to feel the full effects, but my skin needed post-treatment in a bad way. But for me, it is extremely rare that i can go very long without after shave and balm as well. For some reason, the best performing GD soap in the post-shave department was After the fire (tallow & duck?). Anyway, I like this soap quite a bit and it is nice to have a product with DFS on the label. My first.

Does ANYONE have one that they would pass on? I was so busy hunting down Clamorgan items that I didn't even see this release!!

I sent you a P.M. about a soap tub.

I got mine today and it's definitely a softer soap - pretty close to a firmer cream, honestly. that doesn't bother me, though...

when I opened the lid, the scent smelled somewhat similar to a soap I know I have in my shave den but I couldn't quite put my finger on which soap until I went into my bathroom. Once I opened the drawer where my soaps are stored, I knew it was an old L&L Grooming soap that very few people have smelled before. A few years back, kwsher had Scott make a custom scent called 'Sonoma Valley' that smells amazing and only sent it out to a select few people - the DFS moderation team at the time and a few others, if I recall. I believe Kevin had this scent made as an homage to the area his wife grew up in.

I did a test face lather with the soap and it definitely takes a ton of water...and I mean a ton. I could of probably kept going with it but honestly my wrist was getting tired, lol... I'll post some pics up of my lather off of the brush here in the next little bit or tomorrow afternoon.

Hi Andrew,

Could you please share your take on the scent strength of this soap (on a scale of 1- 10)? Thanks!

I used this soap for the first time today and, wow, what a luxurious shave!  Lather was unbelievable as most GD soaps are, with slickness off the charts.

I have never brushed mayonnaise on my face before, but the density of the lather would remind you of that.  This is a great smelling mayo though!   Big Grin

This soap is extraordinary! The scent is not excessively strong, but it is (IMO) a very sophisticated take on Chypre, which has a very healthy longevity. It performs like the Coattails and produces perhaps the best post-shave sensations among the soaps I used so far.

Finally, after USPS sending the soap for a generous pre-paid tour around the state it arrived. As soon as I opened the tub and took a deep sniff this was going to be my favorite GD scent. FWIW I have over 8 GD soaps and the scents, imho, encompass the spectrum from good stuff to interesting to meh. (I know - only 8- what is his malfunction?). The Lusso base is incredible and after one 3 pass shave- I can see Lusso as my preferred base. Just had to use the leftover lather as a balm / as. Wish I ordered a back up tub but who knew.
Great work Mo!!! (Just don't let USPS it was worth the wait otherwise future orders will take a round the world tour and I rather avoid organizing a rescue mission)
