Lol. It's one of my favorite MP sketches. I think it came to mind because with each post we one-upped the one before with a lower gas price. (Meanwhile, I just filled up for $4.90... for regular... Self service).

Back when I started driving in 1958 it was 25 to 30 cents a gallon.

Frankly I don't remember what I paid but when I was a child I remember dad buying gas for well under $.30 and they'd throw in a glass or stamps, something extra with the fill up. They even washed the windshield. That was 60 years ago and EVERYTHING was very different back then.

I came to the US in June of 1996. The following year I kept track of gas prices. In 1997 the lowest I paid was 81 cents and the highest was 97 cent a gallon, that was for regular. After this year of 1997, I stopped keeping track of the gas prices. Filled up Wednesday for $5.099 per gallon for premium....Times definitely have changed.
I have some colleagues that drive daily 130 miles or more to and from work and they cringe now about these prices. Glad I am retired now, but before I had only 9 miles to get to work.

A driver was filling up his truck with diesel and he got 181 gallons. He paid over $1000 . If that was California it would be a lot more. I am done with expensive razors and use what I have.

I went back to work full time, so we can afford to camp with our RV.

This morning I paid $4.20 for 93 octane premium at Sams Club. I got there this morning at 6:45 AM. If you wait until later there is an 1/2 hour wait or longer. Such a bargain.
