I wonder if Brian will set up a CnC and manufacture his own, or contract the work out ? IIRC he was thinking of the latter course of action.

I like the looks of that base plate. It looks like it holds the blade close to the edge.

That's an interesting prospect, but I wouldn't have any idea how to design gap/angle/exposure. I know if I like it after I use it, but in terms of designing a custom head I wouldn't know where to begin, nor would I even attempt it. 

In my view and opinion Jimmy Gen1 Baseplates is where Charcoal Goods is at   lvl1 and 3 DC amazing even 2 lol depending on blade your using and technique..
