Thank you. I have done both the CG Brass, Karve Brass and General Brass. I just grew tired of keeping the razors polished and shiny. I polish the brass up with metal polish. I used Mass but you could use anything. I then wash the pieces in hot water to clean off any polish etc. Before using the darkening solution I dunked the pieces in rubbing alcohol and placed on a paper towel to dry. I found it worked better to use some shop tweezers to prevent oil from my hands getting on the pieces. For antiquing, I used Rockler Brass Darkening Solution I bought on Amazon. I put the pieces in one by one. Take them out occasionally to see the results. Remove from the solution when it has the finish you desire. Rinse very good in water to stop the process. You can lightly buff the pieces to remove some of the patina on high spots if you want. With use, the patina will be partially removed from the most touched surfaces.

I got total three shaves.
1) G1 Lv3 vs. G3 Lv3
2) G1 Lv2 vs. G3 Lv2
3) G1 Lv2 vs. G3 Lv3

New Gens are milder.

G3 Lv2 has very minimal blade feel, it is milder than I like. I prefer old Lv2. If you like Paradigm, Colonial, Raw, I think this razor is for you.

G3 Lv3's blade feel is like G1 Lv2, much less than G1 Lv3.
It is also more efficient than G1 Lv2, I think its efficiency is somewhere btw Lv2 and Lv3 (maybe 2.5).
More efficiency and same blade feel make new Lv3 is even smoother than old Lv2.
It is an excellent razor. I really like it.

Charcoal Goods states: "The 'Everyday' is an intuitive and affordable mild-shaving safety razor...
A mild shave, blade exposure 0.000"/0.000mm, blade gap 0.030"/ 0.762mm"
These qualities make it suitable for me. I like the feel of a milder shaver like my Feather AS-D2. When I use the Level 2, I feel the blade more with its wider gap and blade exposure:
"The 'Level 2' is our most popular model and offers a medium aggressive shave...
Standard shave:
blade gap 0.034"/0.864mm
blade exposure 0.004"/0.102mm

For these reasons, I will likely use the Everyday more often than I do my Level 2. It is as smooth as butter and almost as efficient as the Level 2. It is more comfortable and I care more about comfort than I do about a smidge more efficiency.

For those considering the Gen 3 Charcoal Goods razor, I urge you to carefully assess what your needs and desires are. Much discussion has been had in various forums regarding the Level 3. I cannot comment directly about it because I do not have one. I can, however, reasonably extrapolate how it might feel on my face. Caveate emptor:
Aggressive shave:
blade gap 0.045"/1.143mm
blade exposure 0.010"/0.254mm

Charcoal Goods Gen 3 Level 2
Astra SP (2)
Plus B&M Le Grand Chrypre in Excelsior for my shave today.

I like the Astra SP better with the Level 2 than I do the recommended Wizamet. This combination results in the disappearing blade feel which has been mentioned in discussions on another board regarding the Gen 3 Level 2/Wizamet combination. Everyone is different but, for me, this combination of Astra SP and Gen 3 Level 2 is on another level.

I have gen 1 , gen 2 .
I try the lvl2 gen 3 Yesterday and i wait à lvl3.
I will not arguing about blade feeling , sound, design plates etc...
Lot of conversation about that in the past  and i will not restart that .
Globally my impression ( gen 1, gen 2 and 3) it's Charcoal Goods razor  still an excellent shaver.
I have wolfman WR1 , Rocnel , taïga etc...
And Always i use my Charcoals . Some not like and i understand , but its a precious razor in my opinion. And one of the best .

* My favorites still my copper and brass DC .
I hope Brian will do a gen 3 DC version . [Image: G5SzHS3.jpg]

Aw, snap! I've been wondering why Brian has been so quiet on Instagram recently. Looks like he's been busy buying a new CNC lathe. Available summer 2022:

Glad to see some of the classic the handles returning. Hopefully he'll be bringing back the other metals as well.

That's great he is bringing them back. Hopefully he will bring back the Magnum handle, that is a classic.

Can anyone compare the Gen3 Lvl 2 to the new Karve Overlander? I just saw a video on youtube putting these back to back and the guy thought the CG was even smoother AND more efficient than the Karve. I just got the Karve and its pretty darn good. Its got me curious.

Wish these were a bit cheaper like the Karve. I would love to try one.
