does anyone else use their cell phone as a gps in their car? if so, what mount are you using? I find myself using waze more than my actual garmin gps. right now though I'm holding the phone since I do not have a mount to hold the phone in the car.

Google maps on the I phone and I put it in the cup holder. My Bluetooth on the car reads it to me. If I need clarification I just pick it up and look, probably not the safest.

I probably could put it in the cup holder. I'd prefer something on the dash. my car is older, so no bluetooth.

Andrew, if I remember correctly, like me, you have a Samsung Galaxy S5.  I went onto Amazon and they seem to have quite a few mounts, of varying price and style.  Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0...Caps%2C186.  I hope this helps.

Does anyone know if there is a good free GPS app for the Galaxy S5?  I rarely use one but every once in a while find myself wishing I had one handy.

cops, construction, vehicles on the side of the road, if someone near you is using waze, etc...it's awesome. the system allows you to confirm those items too. for example, if someone reported that a car was on the side of the road and you drive past that location and it's gone, you can mark it as such.

My friend was telling me about it. I'm taking the family camping next week and we have about a 4 1/2 hr drive. I'll download it and give it a shot. Thanks for mentioning it.

Do I have to have my data turned on to use it? I only have 2G of data so will it work off line? I couldn't care less about the "social" aspect, just how to get from A to B with spoken street name turn by turn directions.

I'm not too sure. I have sprint so I don't ever worry about data limits like with other providers.
