The tonsorial is an old school recipe, no frills soap. Super slick, non-drying, a great basic soap.
The premium Tallow is a softer soap with all the skin friendly ingredients to moisturize and protect. Definitely a step up.
The master barber line is his newest soap, bridging the gap between tonsorial and premium. It's a more malleable hard soap.
I was introduced to them by Dave in KY , which had probably used just about every single soap Chris has made. Also, to some extent, Dragonsbeard has worked with Chris in a soap collaboration. Perhaps one of them can step in and give you some more details?
My opinion. They are great soaps at a good price. Chris is a great guy, too, who is quite active in the community on another board.
Hope that helps!

Chris makes a good soap and a nice guy. I did a collaboration with him called “ Fresh Lime “ and we used a modified version of his Premium base using a couple of my ingredients like the EOS Complex and one of the milks I use.
His soaps have like 3 1/2 oz and his prices are good.
You should try one of his soaps I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
I’ll add my two cents, but it goes along the lines of what has already been said. Chris has 3 different bases and all are really great soaps, however they are a little different in their own way.
The Tonsorial Base is slick both in shave and residual, and really shines on the lather. Very dense and protective. This base is a firmer soap.
The Premium Base has a good protective lather too, but it really shines in its slickness. I consider these soaps as some of the slickest out there both in shave and residual. I really like this base with straight shaves. This base is a little softer soap.
The Master Barber base is my personal favorite of CBL soaps. Like said before it is a bridge between the two previous bases. I would say the lather is just as dense and protective as the Tonsorial base. Not quite as slick as the Premium base, but slicker than the Tonsorial base. These pucks are a little firmer than the Tonsorial pucks and they come wrapped instead of in a tub. Perfect for your mug of choice.
I feel all three bases have great post shave feel properties. The Premium and Master Barber bases may be a little better in this area than the Tonsorial base, but it is by a small margin.
