Shave #1 today. Used the standard handle and OG plate.

A few things to explain how I am setting up this test and the base conditions:

1) I will hold my setup constant for the next few days. Same preshave oil, same Macduff soap base (my best performer) and same blade (my bet blade in all razors). Same post shave, same everything.

2) I have a very dense and coarse beard. And I know everyone thinks they have sensitive skin, but I really do have sensitive skin. Most of the time, I can only use mild razors for daily shaving. And I always do two passes only.

With that or of the way, let me start by saying that these razors are works of art. Love the look and quality.

I always taste razors for myself using the following criteria:

- How does the shave itself feel while in progress?

- How does the face feel after the shave?

- How well did the razor cut?

- What is the long-term impact on my skin from using a particular razor?

Let me answer these questions...

The shave itself felt fairly blade forward for my taste. The blade was very loud. It also felt a touch tuggy in a couple of spots. The good news is that the shave was fairly efficient with near zero need to cleanup at all. And the post shave is comparable to my other razors. I certainly have no irritation or pain or itching or anything or of the usual.

What i don't know is what would happen if I used this for a week straight. For now, I am going to try out the minus plate tomorrow to see how that performs.

Day 2. Today I used the "minus" plate, the rest of the sgave was essentially the identical setup.

As far as the shave itself is concerned, the chatter/noise from the blade is virtually identical to the OG plate. Similarly, I found the bladefeel to be similar, as well. It DOES feel a tiny bit milder because it feels like I can add a tad of pressure, but if I keep the pressure the same as on the OG plate, these shave virtually identical for me. I suspect that is at least in part because I am a shallow angle shaver, so if the cap is the same and the clamp point is the same, the wider bar isn't helping as much as if I shaved steep angled.

Immediately after the shave, I think my face felt a bit more burn than after yesterday's shave, but overall, pretty tolerable.

It is now several hours after the shave and my face feels pretty good. 2 days in, no problems to report yet with my skin.

This really shaves very different from any of my other razors. The end result reminds me ever so slightly of what my Timeless Bronze 38 feels like, but the shave itself feels more like a Wolfman WR1 (which I sold). Some more comparative thoughts in another post and some ideas on how to maybe make a milder version of this.

Just as a quick intro/comp, I wanted to point out that I usually like razors that have a tight clamp close to the blade edge. That seems to reduce chatter and traditionally performs better for me. My current rotation is as follows:

- Blutt Rasur .67mm gap with Solid Bar
- Wolfman WR2 .95mm gap with Solid Bar
- Timeless .68mm gap with Solid Bar
- Charcoal Everyday with Solid Bar
- Karve Christopher Bradley B Plate (Solid Bar)

Currently barely outside my rotation:

- Timeless Bronze .38mm gap with Solid Bar
- Tatara Masamune with Solid Bar

You can see that I heavily lean towards very mild razors. And mostly razors with neutral to negative blade exposure and clamp point close to blade edge.

The CX does not really fit these criteria, and it shows in the shave itself via the chatter and audible feedback. Interestingly, the result is every bit as good as my best razors and without really causing any more skin issues (through day 2 anyway). Let's see how it goes from here.

Day #3. Used the OG plate and I am reasonably certain this one works better than the minus plate. Just gives me a slightly better result with a similar shave and a better post shave.

I will continue to experiment with this plate for the next few days.

Side note...the handle of this razor might be the best handle Inhae ever used/held.[Image: a8c51937c479b8126624c3a7d889135e.jpg]

Day #4. I had to take a 2 day break because I was out of town and did not want to bring the razor. At this point, there isn't anything new to report. The OG plate is where it's at for me. Best shave and best end result. The tough part is that while the shave itself doesn't stack up well with my other razors, I am increasingly convinced that the end result is as good as the end result with my very best razor (Charcoal Goods). I am trying to decide whether to purchase or not.

I am giving myself until the end of this week to keep shaving with it, and I will ship the razor to the next person on Friday. Who am I shipping this to?

Day #5 + Day #6:

I used a similar setup yesterday but had Sea to Sky as the soap and a Gillette Yellow blade. Today the new Dark Sky Preserve made its debut and I loved it.

One thing that I can say with certainty is that the Gillette Yellow did not work for me with this razor. It felt even more chattery/tuggy and maybe even a tad rough.

So I went back to the PermaSharp today and that was much better. If I had to guess, I would say that the Yellows I used yesterday are maybe a fraction of an mm wider than the Permas and that this increases chatter and feels more blade forward.

There you have it. I am going to shave with other razors for the next few days to see if I miss the CX and if I do, it will be a buy (although at some point down the road since they are currently completely sold out).

The razor is getting shipped tomorrow and I have everything I need to pass it on to the next tester. It has been a privilege!
