Question for CaD314, but I thought I'd do it via thread instead of PM in case anyone else ever has the same question.

Can I use the Cu Ascension head with other DE handles?  I wanted to try pairing it with a slightly shorter handle, so I gently tried a couple of my stainless handles (Ikon Bulldog and RR Barberpole) but it seemed like the threads weren't quite lining up properly.  Does the Ascension use a different thread pitch than most razors?

It works okay with some other handles I have tried, however there many where I could tighten it only partially before the threads will stop it from going further. I could have tried forcing it, but with Cu being softer than stainless steel, I did not want to damage the thread. A couple of handles I have did not have a screw hole deep enough to fully tighten the head. I just tried three of the RR handles that I have (Barber Pole, HD, and UFO) and none of them got past halfway. It could be that the Cu is the SAE 10-32 standard and not the M5.

Hey bud,
Honestly, it's just the amount of plating that is on it.

I definitely don't want to mess up the plating, even on the threads. I just prefer slightly shorter handles, so I was going to try it with one of my stainless handles. If it felt significantly better, I was going to consider looking into a 3rd party Cu handle to pair with it. Maybe it's best to stick with the stock handle in this instance.
