Brush Drying

I don't think it matters either. I do hang some of my brushes (the ones that the knots will fit) and the others I allow to dry on their bases. The most important thing is, of course, ventilation.

I will stand the brushes with the larger handles and generally place the smaller ones in a stand. I recall a similar discussion a few years ago on another forum where the member used a device to measure the moisture retained by the hair when the brush dried standing vs. hanging. There was considerable attention devoted to controlling the various aspects of the measurements for comparison. The end result was a very, very slight edge for a brush drying while standing on end.

I squeeze, shake, and hang my brush after use. Never had any problems with any of my brushes. If it ain't broke I aint fixin it!

I used a stand for one brush that was made to never stand on it's own base, I no longer have that brush as the stand took up too much space. All the rest stand on their handles. I like the fact that I have less "stuff" in my cabinet that way. As previously stated, they are built that way for a reason.

I do much the same as TheHandleBar does after the shave to aid in drying my brush. It's nothing violent, just an assertive pre-dry procedure. When I flick the brush so that any loos water will hit my opposite arm, nothing is felt.

Someone on another forum did a test to figure out which way dried the brush faster and he found out that they dried faster on their handle. I could give a scientific answer as to why this is, but in the end no one will be swayed by it. Either way works and they're your brushes so do what you want.

I squeeze it, shake it and flick it a few times on the towel. Then I stand it on end. That's what I do with my Omegas and Semogue, and they dry very fast.
