Bought a sewing machine ...

...about a week ago. Farting around with different materials and stitches and what not. I finally sat down today and tried to make something decent...



It isn't perfect and I certainly hope to improve with practice, but I am pretty happy with this. The interior lining is wool felt to assist in moisture abatement and the front pocket is made of flannel to protect the scales and trim pieces.

Gonna make a few more in various sizes...

Wow, that is a great idea! It looks like you did a really good job of it.

My wife has a 190x vintage sewing machine that I use to make the gear that I use. It was free and it works but neither of us really know how to sew and the little that I know came from her. You might look into fleece since it doesn't hold moisture. Same consideration that I have for the gear that I sew for. I don't know if you do it, but I flip the piece and double up on the stitching, except at the ends where the major stress is. That gets more stitches. Maybe that'll mean nothing to your use. What I stitch covers for can weigh over 10#.

If I have "real" sewing to get done I ask a friend of ours to do it. But what you did looks good to my far less than amateur eyes. Well done!

I bought a sewing machine years ago and made a few things.

What I made was just aprons, and I shortened some of my trousers.
