I am curious if my fellow DFSers would find the kind of blade evaluation shown below as interesting or useful [or not].   Obviously, I won't take up any of DFS's space if not useful.  I think the info is self explanatory.  The evaluations are in process as I have 9 more razors to test with this blade.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Not me personally as there are too many variables and blades are even more YMMV then soap scents.

I used to make notes for myself on blade/razor combos but gave up as I have pretty much settled on Astra Superior Platinum in every razor.

All evidence has been buried, all tapes have been erased.

That makes sense. If it weren't for the fact that I may refer to them from time to time, I wouldn't bother.

Although I also believe blades are the biggest YMMV variable in shaving, I still find others' evaluations interesting. Especially since I have some of those exact blades arriving today to try out this weekend. Thanks for posting!

Bruce, I agree that YMMV especially comes into play with blades but I like the layout Ted uses and it is a quick and convenient way to get his take on a blade in several different razors.  Although I have my favorites when it comes to blades, I like to try new (to me) ones and am always interested in other members' thoughts, even if I ultimately end up disagreeing with them.

Thanks Freddy.  I was spurred to action by the fact that this is a super blade, but not easy to get in "the free world."  The vendor Terra Santa sells 100s for $28, INCLUDING shipping.

My hunch is that it is the same as the Gillette Mejorada available in Central and South America - I have no data to support it.  However, both get rave reviews online and I seem to get similar vibes from the packaging. Of course, this is speculation.

I think it'd be great if we could get a blind DE blade testing going again.

Andrew,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Can you outline the protocol and what kind of participation you need.

Ted

Gary on TSN (the complete username escapes me at the moment) did a blind DE blade test a few years ago where he'd send several blades to each participant with a specific questionnaire to be filled out after each shave. what made it a 'blind' test was that the person's significant other loaded each blade into the razor so the user testing it wouldn't have any bias towards a blade.

Kind of a nice idea.  I take it he solicited victims w/o TSN permission, or he would have become:

                                                                 Gary
                                                                BANNED
