Blackland new SE razor.

For those that own the SS and/or Brass General, i'd like to get your thoughts on how the Vector compares in aggressiveness and efficiency. My SS and Brass Generals are pretty much the only razors I currently use. I was hoping to not buy another AC style SE, but the Vector has my interest piqued. Ha. Since this is obviously subjective, for reference purposes, I consider the ATT SE1 and IKON MR-SE to be more aggressive than the General. If possible, i'm looking for a smoother razor than the general. I definitely don't want to get more aggressive. More efficiency and maneuverability are bonuses.

Also, regarding the "new" rounded cap, does one have to contact Blackland for this item or is now default with new Vector orders?

I also made the mistake in reading about the new Paradigm SE. Ugh. Sounds great as well. haha.

I can't speak to the Brass general or the default caps, but I can say unequivocally that the Vector gives me a more efficient shave than the SS General did - I also find it to be smoother - my biggest complaint (and surprise) about the SS general was the amount of drag - I'd read about that, but it was really notable for me - the Vector has none of that.

Thanks! Oh man...I can feel myself reaching for my wallet. Ha. I've strayed from these forums for a while for this purpose I'm actually new to this forum obviously. Was only on B&B previously. I'm just gonna wait for a few more posts comparing the general and get an answer on the cap before I make a decision. The ironic thing is that I am now here asking about this razor when I had pulled out my extra razors today in an attempt to put them up for sale. I clearly took a hard left turn! ha.

I can’t speak to the other razors, but the Vector with a KAI Pink Mild or Protouch MG is certainly not aggressive. You can zip around your face as fast as you like.

You’ll get more aggression and blade feel with a Feather Pro Super of course, but even that isn’t over the top at all.

Which one would you guys recommend? Machined or polished version? Hope shave quality remains same in both the models.

There really is no answer to that. Mainly it's a matter of what appeals to you.

Functionaly wise there shouldn't be any major difference, at least not such that it would justify choosing one version over the other. Generaly speaking (not specifically for the Vector) people say that polished versions have slightly less drag over machined ones. However having the machined Vector I haven't noticed any drag (but I don't have a polished one to can't compare). All in all it's a very smooth razor and the easiest ATG I've had!

Some actual differences are that scratches on polished surfaces are much more noticeable compared to machined ones but on the other hand they're also easier to repair (just polish again) while quite more difficult on a machined razor. Finally, you can polish a machined razor but not the other way round :-)

Hope I didn't confuse you more :-) Point is, pick what you like more.

I agree that there’s no noticeable drag with the machined Vector.

The machined head is actually fair shiny despite the raw machined finish. The handle may be slightly less shiny, but it isn’t enough to notice. However, the microtexture (along with the grooves) give it a fantastic grip.

The polished Vector is a looker, no doubt. It may be one of the best-looking polished razors I’ve seen. I only own the machined version; I’ve just drooled on the pics of the polished version.

Like the other members said, the shave won’t change so just pick the one that catches your eye. If you have buyer’s remorse you can always swap the finish within 30 days.
