No problem. I know that some customers will buy it, analyze the performance scientifically, and find differences. They will probably be completely correct. However, the goal of this finish is, frankly, to look incredibly cool. If there’s a slight performance benefit then that’s great, but it would be disingenuous to advertise that you need this because it will shave better. This one is all about aesthetics.

Thank you for this post, Shane. In the last year or so, I've seen folks mention that a shiny finish provides a smoother shave. I've not commented on those comments, but I find that notion totally outside of my personal experience. The finish on my razors makes no difference whatsoever, to my face. But if others find the finish meaningful, more power to them!

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

That is one gorgeous looking finish on the Blackbird. Jet Black. Now I'm torn between this and the SE. Shane is not making this easy.....

I can’t choose either. The Jet finish is truly stunning in person. My limited skills can’t really capture it in a photo, but pro photos are in the works now.

I was lucky enough to see one in person and it is flat out stunning. Honestly the best looking finish that is up there with the polish on a wolfman.

Blackland Razors Since the cat is out of the bag and the new metal will be brass, why brass over bronze?

Bronze would need to be more expensive. Brass will keep it around the same price as stainless. And as far as customer demand goes it’s really a tossup between the two.

Makes sense, I was looking forward to seeing if a new bronze razor would be hitting the market, but after hearing that it won’t be bronze, it made the decision easy to buy the polish stainless steel now! Smile

Really tempted to pull the trigger on the Blackland Jet with Open Comb. Stunning razor!

I obviously have an agenda, but I recommend picking it up soon if you're interested. There are only a couple left and I don't know if or when they will return.

Smart choice! Between bronze, brass, and copper everyone has their own personal preference. For the large batches the Blackbird is made in we can't have all three so I had to choose the one I think has the best combination of demand and cost.
