Ok so a little bit about the title of this thread. I’m sure many of you have wanted to like a certain razor but you just couldn’t connect with it. Well that’s been my story as throughout the years I’ve tried 3 or 4 SS Blackbirds from the very first model to what I believe is the current model. I’ve never bought one as they’ve all been sent to me to try out or use in the Shave Offs I used to do and it was pretty much always the same. Just wasn’t feeling it and I always wanted to as I try to support artisans in the wet shaving community and especially US artisans. With that said as far as Blackland goes I most recently tried the Vector and I have to say if I was to get back into SE razors again I’d add one in my den for sure as it’s one of the top 3 SE razors I’ve ever shaved with.

Anyway a friend of mine from India bought a Titanium Blackbird and had it shipped to my house as he does with shaving items and then I send them to him. Well when I got the razor I asked him if I could open the box and perhaps try it as my other friend Shavemd Mark said he really liked the Ti Blackbird and my buddy said yes please use it. Well honestly I was expecting just a lighter version of the SS and basically the same shaving characteristics as the SS’s I’ve tried and boy was I wrong!  My first shave with it was on a full 5 days growth and from the first couple of strokes I immediately knew this razor was different! To me this razor is extremely well balanced, very maneuverable, very smooth for the efficiency level it provides which is up there in what I’d call the very efficient category. I know and respect that everyone has their own opinion but this is mine on this wonderful razor. An honestly I did 3 passes ( WTG, XTG ATG ) and it just wiped away 5 days growth in a very stealthy way and left me with a solid BBS shave. It didn’t take me to long to find the sweet spot as the razor sings a loud enough song to let you know where you are but blade feel for me is way down compared to the SS versions I’ve tried. So today I was in a mood to experiment so I thought let’s really put this razor to the ultimate test and that is to get a BBS doing only a normal WTG pass and going right into what I call a reverse WTG pass and using aggressive skin stretching. So far only 3 razors have been able to accomplish that and they are the Ikon Tech which gets me there the easiest with the 2011 R41 and WR2 1.55 not far behind. Well I can now add the Blackbird Ti to the list and like the others I had 4 days growth when I started the shave. I shaved exactly 12 hours ago and at this time I’m just starting to feel the very slightest regrowth coming in where my nasty cowlick is on the right side of my neck. I’m so impressed with this razor and knowing that a high polished version is on its way down the road I’m going to finally be able to support Shane @Blacklandrazors by purchasing this excellent shaving razor.
Sorry guys for the long rant/post but I’ve waited a long time to be able to honestly say I finally connected very much so with a Blackbird razor.

Great shaves all!!

You're KILLING me Frank. I will need to try one before I buy it as the SS was more blade feel than I cared for. Manageable but required too much attention for me.....................Glad you enjoyed it but you've added to the chorus that has me curious, NICE review !

I whole heartedly agree, the BB Ti is a great, smooth shaving razor. It is, to me, the BlackBird I have always wanted to love.

I do love the Blackbird Ti as well ... fantastic razor. I currently had it on loan to a buddy but it's en route back to its home den.

I third that same sentiment Frank, I LOVE the Blackbird Ti, and it’s not just the honeymoon period. Like you, I feel the Ti is a whole different razor from the Stainless steel version. It is extremely efficient and it’s super smooth and easy to maneuver. The titanium really shows off the Blackbirds perfect balance.

Lol!
When I get mine Dave you know your welcome to try it. As far as attention goes I’d say once you find the sweet spot you could sail through the shave without the kind of focus you’d need with other very efficient razors.

That’s an excellent short summary of what I’m feeling about the razor my friend.

Exactly! Smooth, very efficient, well balanced, maneuverable and smooth! Can’t ask for much more than that!

Always wanted to love the SS BB but never could get along with it. But from everything I keep hearing about the Ti version I may have to revisit this razor.
