Choice of the standard 85mm or long 101mm handle.

Blackland Razors can we get your take on the blackbird lite vs era SB lvl 5 since they have the same efficiency and blade feel ratings?

Yep, it’s fairy similar which is why they have similar ratings. The Lite is not a mild razor. And the Era L5 is not an aggressive one.

You may have hit on something there, it appears that the Blackbird Lite replaces the Tradere. I know people have been asking when/if it's coming back. Even if it's not discontinued, this gives people something more readily available. Hopefully.

I wouldn’t think of the Blackbird Lite as replacing anything. While the result might overlap with other razors, it’s a distinct experience that is most similar to the Blackbird - just Lite.

This morning, probably influenced by this thread, I grabbed my Blackbird Ti and shaved a 3 day beard growth. Used a Gillette Silver Blue from a tuck I bought probably 5 years ago.

Such a great shave. It was smooth as silk, two passes, no weepers, nicks, irritation ... but BBS.

If I had a long Ti handle to give me more leverage and control it would have been even better !!!  Rolleyes

... the Blackland site has these data.
And I organized about smoothness.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Finally got in a shave with the Lite. I really need to stop going weeks before shaving. I got my regular baseplate not even 20% into my first pass to make it go faster. I can definitely feel the step down in blade feel and aggressiveness even for the first little bit in the first pass.

If I had used the regular in my second pass I'd be feeling the consequences now. More nicks, more razor burn, and just overall irritation. I don't feel like I lost any closeness. For myself it's the touch down in aggression I wanted. Might prefer it over the titanium version. Would post more but stuck using mobile and it's not my preference for typing.

I also used the Lite plate yesterday and it was EXCELLENT. Daily driver DNA.
On first use, I would say it does have a somewhat mild feel (but you still feel the blade some, so no guessing on angle/cutting) and mid-level efficiency. No irrigation whatsoever. Smooth result.
More to come, but I'm impressed and very very pleased with it after the first use.
