It seems like shavings...however, it may be the material left from the casting process. It was inside the bottom cap as well. [Image: 014c154706ed8b71cff6f033b5159d2c.jpg][Image: f4fce177be5b103dc7fe53e183431a94.jpg]
3 noticeable dents on the bottom plate and all over the handle. I am unsure if this is "machined." all the stainless steel razors have distinct, sharp edges that don't look molded like these parts do.

If you look at hrfdez's photo of the base plate, you can see where the posts from the top cap enter for aligning the blade. Mine had that black material full of it. I brushed the top cap and bottom cap with a toothbrush for a good while.

I am also having an issue with Seygus, not as much as the razor...but customer service. I wont publicly post but I will do it in a PM if anyone is interested.

I am going to stick with our good old American artisan razor manufacturers from now on. Like Blackbird (may need to save up for the next batch!)

It would take at least a couple of shaves to build that up...

I was thinking polishing compound. It becomes black gunk and gets wedged everywhere. No clue if that's the case here or not.

The pictures on their website look WAY better than that. When you fork out that much cash for a razor, it should be flawless. I can understand if it's a $20 used Gillette off of ebay, but any new item should not have any scratches or dents, obviously.

Mine's by no means perfect. The imperfections I can see, and I can't see very good even with my glasses on, are cosmetic. I didn't expect a mirror finish all over, but didn't expect the flaws that were obvious on first inspection by me either. What mattered more to me was that there were no burrs or sharps anywhere.

I will also say the blade on mine has a slight bow when the handle is tight too. When I say slight, I mean almost imperceptible. That gave me pause though. I was expecting dead flat absolute zero flat and straight blade. The blade is 100% even on each side.

Almost like the buffing that was done was overdone in some areas and grossly underdone in others. I don't know?

I shaved it with it this morning. I would say with just one shave that I don't really give a flying fart now about the little dings and incomplete polishing in the channels of the handle. I'll hit it with my Dremmel some day - maybe - but probably not...

I'm not bowled over with exuberance. I'm not really disappointed. Frankly I'm relieved to be honest. I've had a handful of serious flops messing around on Kickstarter. None for this much money though. So, I had my reservations about whether I was even going to actually receive a razor. I don't know Hasan. I've never met most of the people I meet online in real life. So when I ponied up a lot of coin to preorder this razor, I did so with the understanding that I may be taken for a ride. I also did so with the hopes that he would succeed and there would be a sweet looking stainless steel DE razor out of it to add more options and variety to the market for everyone.

I'm really not thrilled with the finish. I've shaved with uglier razors.

For me, and this is only one shave in, the Barbaros I got performed roughly between my Feather AS D2 and my Wolfman SB with a standard gap. A little smoother than my Tradere solid bar, but similar aggression, if not slightly milder. Pretty much a Damn Fine Shave through and through.

So, while I'm not planning on sending my Barbaros all the way back to Turkey, I'm not going to pretend like Hasan has a Grand Slam on his hands with his first at bat either. It's a hell of a good start. A learning experience? Maybe. Time will tell. It matters now what he does from here.

I'm totally happy with the shave my Barbaros gave me. I'm not really in a position to show it off to friends or family because frankly no one I know would really care about what I shave with. It would be like if someone else wanted to show me their toothbrush. I'm not totally happy with the attention to detail and final finish overall for the MONEY I spent and the TIME I waited. I would rather have waited another 3 weeks. I can appreciate the pressure to deliver close to schedule and be outstanding quality too. Of the two, quality is more important I think and the extra time should have been spent on Quality prior to shipment.

It shaves so nice though... I mean so nice... So, so nice...

You aggressive razor fanatics might not like it. I know I like mild razors and this thing felt great to me. Took my beard off efficiently and didn't give me a single stitch of unpleasantness during or after the shave. Since I shave in the shower, with my glasses off, I didn't even have to be sad by the imperfect finish either.

i wonder what it would cost to ship it back i may just go ahead and do that myself. he asks me to wait but i have major reservations now and am reluctant to think the next one would be that much better, he also did not offer me the shipping both ways deal. i could post pics of mine but i think you all would fall out of your seats. mine is really bad.

and no that is not build up under the top cap its metal that was not machined off properly. sucks. mine also has a slight bow to the blade as well its very minor but there. i think i will tell him im sending mine back as well. i could always dispute it with paypal also since i paid with paypal to have that protection.
