Do the black oxide  BB have any drag.
#32
The Blackbird and the CG level 2 are the two best of the best for me. Agree that CG is best for smooth shaved, BB best for more efficient shaves. But the difference isn’t so great for me that I don’t put the CG in first place. It’s just so intuitive to shave with, and was from the very first shave. I’m still on the learning curve with the BB. Two beautiful razors and I am thankful for them both.

I am not certain if I would describe it as 'drag', but I find a minor difference between it and the Polished version, which has the smoothest feel. I would compare the feel of the Black Oxide to the Brass, but, for some reason, my skin prefers the Brass out of all of the Blackbirds, although I have never tried the Jet finish.

I have extensively used the Black Oxide and the Machined Finish, and I find no difference between those finishes in this sense. It is possible that when wet, the flat (but slightly textured) surface areas on the razor heads may occasionally create something of a “slowing” effect. That can be diminished by using a lighter touch or trying a slightly different angle. Personally, I enjoy the feeling of how closely the Blackbird cuts, in either of those finishes. (I haven’t tried other variants.)
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I currently own the machined and BO ‘Birds and can detect no difference in face feel. Not sure why there would be.

The Blackbird is what I use 99% of the time. Best balance of efficient and feel IMO. Not as efficient as some of my real aggro ones (CGLVL3, Timless 95 OC) but enough.

I only shave 2 or 3 times a week most of the time.

It is not perfect; ATG there is blade chatter. But I dont shave ATG, so for me this is the single best razor at ANY price, and that includes some "unobtanium" stuff I own like wolfman/raw shaving/paradigm 17-4
What is blade chatter?

I'm not trashcanmagic, but "blade chatter" is when a blade isn't clamped perfectly still and can thus move a bit one way or the other.  When going ATG with tough or thick stubble, razors that don't hold the blade extremely tightly and close to its edge can be prone to this "chatter," which can lead to skin irritation and/or weepers.
