Man , I really need to try one of those new Omega S brushes.

It depends on the budget really but for a boar you really can't go wrong with any Omega or Semogue, there are plenty of nice options at or under $20. A budget badger I would find a handle and go with a TGN Finest knot or maybe a Whipped Dog/Virginia Sheng silvertip.
I haven't joined the synthetic revolution yet so can't comment on those.

Omega Pro is a great brush that can be had for around $10.

Satin tip or Omega S are good options for synthetics.

If you're looking for value In a badger brush, the Chinese offerings are a crap shoot, but when you hit a good one the value is tremendous.

I've heard a lot of chatter saying that the FS Finest knots can sometimes be on par with Thaters as far as hooked and soft tips are concerned. I don't know if that's the case, but I've got one waiting in my mailbox right now that I can't wait to find out about.

But as far as most brush for the buck, I'll echo everyone who said the S-Brush.

I like the Muhle and EJ STF brushes very much, but am impressed at how many very good, sometimes excellent synthetic brushes have come on the market in the past few years.  They may not have the same quality handle as the Muhle and EJ brushes, but have some really terrific, high performing knots.

Omega S-brushes
Plisson
Whipped Dog
Satin Tip purest

are all very good brushes.

I'll have to look at RazoRock's version on my next IB purchsae.

The Omega pro is a pretty good budget boar hair.
