If you want to go with something beside DE razors vintage Schick injectors specifically Type E, G or the Type M adjustables. Between those I think most anyone can find a good performing to their needs razor in the $20 or lower range except for the adjustables which will run higher usually but still under $60.

For Gem style SE razors the micromatics are built like tanks and with 3 different styles and at least 2 makes for each style you have 6 distinctly different razors to choose from that go from mild to wild and each can be had in the $20 range still.

For DE the only ones under $60 I think are worth going for as a non collector are the Gillette Slim, Super 84 or 109 adjustables and the 1946 - 1948 Gillette Aristocrat.

If you like mild to super mild razors then the Schick DE or Gillette Blue Tip razors are also a bargain.

. 95 Lupo SB, hands down best DE for me, great shave every single time, regardless of what type of blade I use.

Echoing others:
Single edge: an injector. For me, Type G, I, and M have been outstanding. Parker adjustable as a new razor option.

Double edge vintage: fat handle Tech, Slim from the 60s
DE modern: Yates 921-M. Great razor. Karve brass B or C, another great razor, but the many plate options can lead to more money being spent!

This Winning razor gets my vote for best bang for the buck being all stainless, made in the USA, & just under $50. It’s a mild razor but can handle everyday shaves just fine and dandy like apple candy.

The Gillette Tech has been mentioned a couple of times, and I concur.
In the same league as the Tech, but less well known is the Star DE Razor.
It comes in both brass and aluminum versions, and is always available on eBay.
I think it gives a better shave than the Tech, but YMMV.

I use this razor all the time and it is one of my favorites.  I never quite cared for the Gillette Tech, for some reason, but a friend suggested I try to get the STAR.  It proved to be love at first shave and I haven't changed my opinion in all the years I have been using it.  Whenever I start a new blade it is invariably put into the STAR for its first outing and I am rarely disappointed in the shave.

This thread is dangerous to me. Every time I read it I want to buy every razor mentioned.
