I'm down to the last remnants of my L'Occitane aftershave balm. I think I bought a 3 to 5 year supply of the prior generation when I heard they reformulated (not for the better). Since that is no longer an option what is the brain trust's favorite after shave balms or post shave that doesn't include alcohol? Pic for interest!

I can't speak for scents, but I am sold on Zingari Man Recovery Splash. I use the unscented version and will not be without a bottle in my supply drawer! Many scents are available on their website. I also use the balm daily as well.

Nice! What is the difference between the splash and the balm? I think I tried a sample of the balm once and it was nice. Thanks for the reminder!

The balm is a lotion, and Zingari Man has two different formulas. One is "thicker" than the other, I believe. The splash is a splash, a liquid that you "splash" into your palm and then slap on your face! Kidding, I don't recommend slapping your own face!

This was a goto of mine for years. I should look for it again, and see how it stacks up. But I need to make sure it is very low scent to no perfume/fragrance added.

My favorite balm is Elvado Woodland Reserve. It leaves my skin feeling plump and moisturized well into the evening. Another one that I recommend is Aion Skincare Nourishing Balm.

Cutty,
I agree with you on the L'Occitane balms - old generation. I stashed up as well. Stash good for a little longer.

1 ¬ I found Tabac balm very very similar in performance and feel both pre and post application. Of course, scent is a factor but my words of recommendation here pointed at performance not fragrance.

2 ¬ expensive but really really great... ABC Apricot Hull. There bottle lasts for a year and i use it religously.

3 ¬ SirHenry balm. Consistency and performance solid. Love that they put it in soap containers as i can easily get to it. I have been through 3 tubs. Just finished another.

I follow the balms after usage of Ethos serums. I haven't wavered from Ethos parts serums in years, every shave. I am a redhead with a dense beard... and evidently my skin needs the extra moisture.

Balms:
My all-time favorite is Natyr Balsamo Multifunzione, which has been hard to find lately. Luckily, its twin from Bullfrog is almost identical and more readily available: watery, fast absorbing and a soft anise aroma that fades quickly.

Other worthy mentions include Wholly Kaw Balm and Declaration Grooming Liniment. Shiseido Moisturizer Light Fluid used to be a favorite too, it works ok but way overpriced imho.
Despite the large consensus they usually get, I never really enjoyed Zingari balms (both standard and Sego formula), they’re just too much for my oily skin. Same goes for B&M, Noble Otter and many others.

Lotions:
Wholly Kaw AS Toner is my go-to, incredibly effective and impossible to overdose. Aion Skincare AS is quickly becoming a close second, I was kinda disappointed with its earlier version but now, after the latest dilution reformulation, it’s right where I hoped it would be. Tallow + Steel and MacDuff's AS are also quite good, especially scent wise considering alcohol absence. I’d say the same about Chatillon Lux toners, too bad they’re gone.

Others:
Aion Hydrating Gel , Zingari Man Hydration Potion and Ethos Replenish Serum are all very similar clear, unscented gels and they are my one-for-all daily product, they silenced all my interest for new stuff in post-shave department (recently finished the 3rd bottle of my favorite one).

This is coming from someone who hates balms.  I don't need any more oil for my face.

Having said that, and having tried quite a few over the years, the best smelling (lavender) and least greasy/best absorbing was the balm that One Blade sells with its razors.
