I wish I could do Bay Rum. Every time I pick one up SWMBO veto's it. That's the only scent she puts the kibosh on.

I used the Turtleship Bay Rum this morning. Really nice base and a low to medium scent, but a very pure bay rum smell. I liked it!

I received my Chiselled Face Bay Rum aftershave and I used it this morning, I like it a lot. Its got the signature CF menthol kick and it has a nice rummy bay scent. Much more prominent than off the soap. Its a keeper.

On another note, I also received a tub of Murphy & McNeil Bad Mor (Bay Rum) shaving soap. I haven't tried it yet so I can't comment not he performance, however, the scent off the puck is very mild. Very mild.Huh dang, hope triumphed over experience once again. This is their scent profile:

Scent Profile:

Our take on a traditional Bay Rum
Top: Allspice, Clove, Orange
Heart: Nutmeg, Pine
Base: Patchouli, Vanilla

Other than a very, very mild hint of traditional bay rum, I get none of the other notes. Yes it could be my nose. Oh well, the search continues.

Really appreciate the feedback here Marko. By the sounds of it I will have to grab that splash too. Not too much of a 'tropical' vibe?

I heard the M&M were lightly scented. And no west indies bay - WTF?? I tried Extro Bay Rum recently, which uses bay laurel instead of pimenta racemosa and also juniper and other botanicals. Quite different, almost aquatic, and worth the side trip if you're into the idea, although truth be told it wasn't my favourite.

I am told there will be some Mandarin Bay sold if and when there is a GD drop on WCS and IB. I also heard something about a Lemon Bay...

I didn’t get a tropical vibe off the CF bay rum.

I don’t think culinary bay should be used in shaving but if some people like it than go for it. It should be clearly labeled.

Those GD bays sound very interesting. Patience is the key word when waiting for a GD drop.

Lol indeed!... Mandarin Bay to me smells like Mandarin Orange Spice herbal tea by Celestial Seasonings. Pretty damn good to my nose, and blended using the essential oil.

My wife isn't crazy about my bay rum collection either. A few weeks back I was finishing up my shave and applying a new bay rum aftershave, PAA Pineapple Bay Rum (its really nice) and my wife was in the bedroom and called out "mmm, that smells nice. What is it?" Confused Maybe you could try that one on SWMBO - maybe it can serve as a gateway bay rum Big Grin

I’ve got that one too. Really nice with a good bay-coconut balance.
