I used Vespers soap and aftershave this morning, really, really nice. Lathered beautifully rich, thick and slick and smelled great. Will, you just keep on doing it, thanks!
On another note, I've heard that you may be bringing one of either Fougere Aromatique or Fougere Imperiale back for another run. Is there any substance to that rumour? They're both beautiful soaps that I got on initial release but they won't last forever. I just never get tired of excellent soaps.
On another, another note, I lathered up Night Music a little while ago - another absolutely beautiful soap. I could never understand some people's reactions to that soap. Is there any chance it might come back at some point? I'm starting to see light through the bottom of the tub.
Thanks,
mark

There might be.

Night Music is dead and buried, I'm afraid.

Just tried Vespers this morning and thought I’d give my feedback.
I had an absolutely fantastic shave. This may very well be the best soap I’ve ever used. I would say excelsior reminds me more of reserve than white label in how it lathers. However, I have pretty hard water and I know reserve/excelsior use the same ingredient to address that, which may be why they seem to lather identical to me.
I mostly wanted to say that B&M white label was the first artisan soap I tried and is what got me started down this expensive rabbit hole. Cheshire was my absolute favourite and was the first soap I ever finished. I was pretty gutted when glissant base was released and I had a significant skin reaction to it. I tried a number of different scents in case it was the fragrance oils, but no luck. The reserve base didn’t cause any reactions, and I very much enjoy Fern and Lavender, but it is sad seeing all these great seasonal releases and knowing I can’t enjoy them.
I’m very pleased to say that I had no skin reactions to Vespers. It’s been mentioned that the main scent line may come to the excelsior base depending on how it’s received. I’m here to say I absolutely love it and would be over the moon to finally be able to use the rest of the B&M scents.

I’m hoping Will’s regular line is moved to the Excelsior Base as well, there are too many of my favorite scents that I don’t use because the Glissant Base doesn’t lather as well for me as his Reserve Base. Lavanille, Cheshire, Cologne Russe, I miss all of you.

First shave with Vespers this morning. I have to say, I am also in agreement. This may be the best soap base I've ever used. I was big white label fan. Glissant was OK. I wasn't a big fan of the gumminess of Reserve. This base seems to be the best of all worlds. The lather was super easy to build up and was super slick and pillowy. Hopefully the other glissando soaps make the switch soon. My wallet is going to hate me when that happens.

Funny, that. I so much prefer the Glissant base to the Reserve base. There is way too much work involved in the latter to get the same result as the former. Of course, skin reaction is a whole different thing. In all fairness, I have not tried the Excelsior base so cannot compare that to the other two.

YMMV, as in all things Shaving!
