I am not one for writing lengthy drawn out reviews, but I do want to mention that during mail call today I received a container of Barrister and Mann's Latha Sandalwood and gave it a try for a late afternoon shave. Man this stuff is great. First off the scent is very nice. My 8 yr. old son even asked if he could shave with it. The lather was extremely thick and required more water than I am used to using but really built up a nice lather. Once I put it on it was very slick. I used my Maggard's V3A head with a Personna med prep blade and got a very close BBS shave with three passes. This was my first go around with B&M soaps but I will definitely be investing in more.

I still haven't tried the Latha line but Sandalwood is the one I will buy if I don't wait for the Chypre in March. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I remember when Latha first came out (just in the original scent), and it went under the radar for such a great performing, but accessibly-priced, soap. I still really like my original Latha, but it's good that the expansion of the line has garnered it more attention and due praise. Will designed it to be easy to work with, and it really is. It's not as out-and-out luxurious as the main B&M line, but it's also less expensive, and makes for reliable, amiable, honest soap.

I am a big fan of the Latha range, performance and scent. I have had a few and my favourites have been Limon and Sandalwood. I think the sandalwood doesn't really have that much sandalwood in it though. To me the best description is a a lightly fruited clean smelling soap, does it for me!

Limon is amazing, one of my favourite scents would have liked it a tad stronger.

aside from maybe stirling's sandalwood, the latha sandalwood is one of the best smelling soaps I own!

Rod at Stirling had given me a sample of sandalwood shave soap and I could not detect any scent at all. I shaved with it several times and never smelled anything from it. I wonder if I just got a dud because the reviews for his Sandalwood soap and aftershave are very good. I bought some balms from his sale yesterday and almost bought the sandalwood to give it one more try but removed it right before checkout.

it must be a dud. I have both the sandalwood soap & ASB....they both have a great scent. in fact, even though I haven't shaved since Friday night, I've been using the stirling sandalwood ASB these past few days to help keep my face from drying out. I can still smell the scent from the ASB some 4 hours after I initially put it on!

Thanks. I will have to try it again sometime.

I will agree that I don't really smell all that much sandalwood but what's there smells really good IMHO.
