That’s interesting!  I didn’t know that.  These blades say made in the USA.  Do you know when their production moved to Israel?  It might help in dating these.

If the blades say made in USA, then they may be what are called Lab Blues. These blades are made by a company called AccuTech in Verona, VA, which produces "industrial" blades.

AccuTech was once part of American Safety Razor and produced blades under the Personna and Gem names. It was spun off from when production much of the safety razor blades was moved overseas. According to their web site, AccuTech produces razor blades for surgical, histology, dermatology, food, fiber, galss, flooring and DIY usage.

The history of Personna, Schick, American Safety Razor, etc. is quite convoluted. Ownership has changed hands multiple times.  Personna, Schick and Wilkinson Sword Classic are currently brands owned by Edgewell Personal Care. They were planning to acquire Harry's Razors, but that sale was blocked by the Federal Trade Commission as being anti-competitive. AccuTech continues to produce blades under the Personna and Gem brands.

Since we are on the subject of the Personna (made in the USA) blades, I have a couple of questions:

1) Are the Med Prep and Lab Blues the same blade, made in the same factory in Virginia?

2) Are both blades "comfort coated", and what is that coating (chrome, Teflon, platinum, etc.)?

3) Are the edges ground to the same angle?

I haven’t a clue!  The only persona med preps I have are 268 of the Personna 74 blades.  I haven’t used the newer ones.

Since we are on the subject of the Personna (made in the USA) blades, I have a couple of questions:

Coatings are PTFE (Teflon) or some other proprietary material. If blades were totally coated in platinum or chromium they would cost a fortune in bulk. The edges, repeat EDGES, are sputtered with platinum, chromium, borium, etc., to harden the edge lest it chip away easily as the edge is so keen (think microns). The coating goes over the edges and is what actually imparts the smoothness, i.e., sharpness. There is no distinction as they are one in the same. The edge cuts THROUGH the coating thereby preserving it (the edge) until the coating wears away finally. It does that as again, this is on a level of microns finer than any hair. 

No, they are usually ground to somewhere between 12 & approx. 17 degrees depending upon the type.
