I wish he'd do soaps in the Reserve base more often so people with allergies to Big Lanolin can try too.

How does this compare with A&E L'orange Vert? I absolutely love the scent on that one.

Nordost is a warm orange citrus scent with just a touch a smoke. It's not sweet or tart-smelling. Just a wonderfully balanced citrus that seems like it would be hard for anyone to dislike.

I picked up a bottle of Nordost aftershave last night.

I don't want to rain on the parade here but it's an "ok" scent. But I'm not a huge citrus-forward fan and I was really hoping this would have more smoke to it...something that would tone down the citrus scent. Thankfully, I only purchased a sample. Is it Scent of the Year? Not for me. I also picked up a sample of Lyssa and found it to be much more appealing

I was thinking about grabbing a set from WCS after seeing how many others have said how good it is but I'm in the same boat as you and other than a couple of Lime soaps I'm not a big fan of citrus forward scents so I'm glad you chimed in

I am torn here waiting for my samples as by the time they get here all the web specials will be over.  Confused

I'd be interested in this comparison, as well, because L’Orange Vert is fantastic. I'm wondering if it's just a matter of earthiness vs. smokiness, or if there's more to it. Probably the latter.

L'OV has a more barber-shop citrus vibe that is orange skewed.
This being smoky would probably be a nice cool weather scent.

I felt the same way and was pleasantly surprised to see my Maggard order delivered yesterday as it was scheduled for Monday delivery.  I had Nordost soap & AS in my cart and kept debating whether to do it.  In the video you posted he notes that it's mostly orange or citrus with some light smoke.  That made me pause on pushing the "Pay Now" button.   Honestly, if you enjoy orange-scented soaps, then go for it...we all know it's a great soap base.  But I pick up very little, if any, smoke and if that's what you are after then I think you may be disappointed.

Also, I want to say how thankful I am that we have Maggard providing us the opportunity to get samples prior to a release.  I ended up spending $3 instead of $32 on a scent that just isn't for me.
