You sounded like he upset you, hence I was trying to defend your right to ignore him and take any pictures you want. "they" don't have to like it. Your camera, your pictures, your hobby.

I read the original thread now and eBay listing. I don't know the price of Wolfman razors. From his website, looks like about $175 for a head and $125 for a handle. $300 is the same price as the One Blade. I don't see the big deal. Looks like a small, one man operation. He makes them as fast as he can. So be it. Maybe they will be worth more as a collectible or maybe for some just a tool.


Nah, I can't see anyone say in the 1950s or 1960s hanging around the bar talking about shaving. Didn't happen. Its a recent thing. Its just a mundane task for "most" people. Not exciting. Now toothbrushes - THAT I understand.

And SHAMPOO? Big business!

Human nature. We are programmed to label, dissect, and divide. Classification and justification are two things we do very well as a species, right or wrong.

The thing I try to keep in the forefront of my mind when participating on a forum like this is pretty easy...we don't have to agree to respect each other. I can appreciate a good looking razor without feeling jealousy towards the owner. I can appreciate a fantastically composed and exposed photograph with a brilliant background regardless of the actual subject matter, to a certain degree...

In the end, this is a hobby. Some will join us, some will question us, some will outright mock us. I do not believe the ebay listing nor the subsequent clarification were meant to be denigrating to the community as a whole. I think it was focusing on the "gotta have it now" aspect, that does seem to generate not only animosity but downright aggression in many people. That stuff isn't healthy for a small hobby community...

And hrfdez , I for one, hope that you do not leave the forum. You are one of the many members I specifically enjoy interacting with, expressly BECAUSE you pull no punches. There is no BS in you, and I respect that. I don;t always agree with what you have to say, but I always appreciate your honesty and no-nonsense manner. While I do think that some of your posts come across as a bit aggressive, I also recognize the same in my own posting habits, so I cannot fault you for that. Passionate people have passionate responses, and that is nothing to be ashamed.

Besides...there are other members that get MUCH deeper under my skin than you ever have. Most hated member? I doubt it, to be honest. Perhaps most misunderstood and therefore most reported, but I think "most hated" is a stretch. Definitely untrue if we count those that have been banned...a couple spring right forward to mind as intentional trolls just looking for a fight. That is not you, to be certain...

Anyhow...it's a small community and a small hobby, filled with all kinds of people from all walks of life. We aren;t all going to agree, and we definitely are not all going to get along all of the time. But even if we dislike each other, a sense of mutual respect, and an acknowledgement of a shared love of the hobby can go a long way towards bridging those gaps...

I still don't understand what all the fuss is about with the Wolfman. I found mine harsh and irritating and ended up selling it (at a loss no less). I also do not see the hype with the OneBlade. I do like mine, but I didn't pay $300 either. Not sure it's worth that price point. It does give a very nice shave, but so does my Gillette Fat Boy.

My favorite DE is still my Maggard's V3, that I paid $17 for with stainless handle...

In fact...I picked it up for the first time in about 4 months just a couple nights ago. I wanted a DE shave. I didn't post and SOTD pic because I only want the accolades and razor-worship I get from posting one of my beat-up, half-restored vintage straights...

I've never tried a Wolfman razor, personally. I find the price off-putting to be honest. I've been known to splurge (witness my BSB brush) but that's more than I'm willing to spend on a razor. That said, I'd loooove a matching titanium razor one day. As for the people that do buy them, hey, whatever makes you happy is all that matters in the end, right? Live and let live.

You said the key word, fuss.  As everything that is somehow unobtainable, the Wolfman has fallen into that category, fuss.  And it is normal that people want to get what's unobtainable, is just human behavior.  And like you, you used it and didn't like it, fuss is gone   Many people have felt the same way after the fact.

It is a fine razor IMO, but does it shave better than my GEM or a FB?  Not necessarily.  I have to be honest, I didn't purchased a Wolfman for its magical shaving qualities. Furthermore, since I started SR shaving, they have been collecting dust.

Is just one of those things.....

The fuss and clamber is the direct result of conditioning. It is disseminated with malice aforethought by advertisers. Exclusivity is enticing. Recognition is the #hashtag of the day. The ebay seller is our razor-community's Lenny Bruce.

I don't get the Wolfman either. Great tolerances, rigidity and threads. The shave, to me, was less than average and also felt crude and jagged. Gave mine to my brother but he admitted he uses his Baby Smooth much more often.

A group of guys kept telling us Savonniere du Moulin (SdM) was a game changer of a soap. It was just average to me.

All I can do is laugh now.
