Evening Gents. I want to get these shaves in quick and prepare this razor prodigy out the door and into the hands of the list participants. I went with the 1.1 using the same Schick blade on its 2nd run. Beard growth was light but, fully present as last nights shave lasted me a good 13 hours practically before I started feeling any stubble on both face & neck. I thought that the 1.1 would be my Goldilocks zone plate and it did not prove me wrong.

What a smooth, smooth, smooth shave. A very easy and effective 2 pass shave where I started ATG and finished with an XTG pass with very light buffing on the chin and jawline. This was an amazingly good shave that just slightly toned down the blade feel, delivering an incredible smoothness with a very toned down bitey effect or feel. All other facets that I mentioned from the previous shave remained the same. Just the smoothness and ease of use plus feel on skin is pleasantly amplified without much lost in its efficient action. This second shave felt more natural and intuitive as the first gave me critical real time data that set me up for this shave. Placed the razor on skin and just moved it upward slowly but, smoothly while just tilting the handle ever so slightly downward and found the sweet spot for me that is just below neutral without feeling the guard, just barely skimming it as I continued the upward stroke. This thing feels light in hand and assures one nearly a goof-proof angle that is relatively easy to find and just as easy to maintain. For a Stainless Steel razor, it is superbly balanced and practically feels natural in hand at any angle or pass of attack. Though there is no pronounced serrations or knurling on the handle, it still felt quite secure in hand and i never lost a feel for it even under heavy suds running down the handles length. No nics, cuts, weepers or blood spots of any kind or iteration were present once I was done with the XTG and buffing session. The alum pass proved to be precise as well with no heat or irritation present anywhere. Just smooth & undisturbed comfortable skin. Just an awesome shave, period. Additionally, the Schick blade is perhaps just about perfect in this razor. I could exclusively use a Schick blade in this thing and never have a need to use another. That’s saying something because I like good and sharp blades that have a smooth nature to them. I’m positive that Gillette Platinum’s, Perma-Sharp, Gillette 7 O’Clock Greens & Yellows, Wizamet SI’s, Bic Chrome & Platinum’s, Gillette Minora’s and the venerable Feather will work superbly in this tool. I have no doubt on that.

Next shave I’ll drop it down to the .7 and give it a run and then promptly get it set for road & air travel. It’s always fun to try these magnificent tools and creations from these talented artisans. This one though Gents is a different and unique whisker reducing tool and it’s going to put a nice poop eating grin on some if not all who sample it. There is a difference to it that just has to be sampled to get the full effect and picture of this wonderfully designed razor.

I will not lie, I stayed with the 1.1 base plate for this 3rd & final shave. I know, I stated that I would drop down to the .7 but, when something works so well as this gap size on the AD N*7, why mess with success? Yeah, exactly. Just a superb shave with the perfect combo of smooth, easy on skin and deliciously good efficiency. I will not break down the details as what was read on the previous shave was an exact carbon copy of today’s shave results. The only difference being the Feather blade and it was just magnificent in this razor.

This one is brief as I’m heading out the door and heading towards JFK Int’l to pick up my daughter & grandkids that are flying in from Florida to hang with gramps for a couple weeks. I will get this kit cleaned, sanitized and ready for the first participant once I get back and will probably have it shipped tomorrow evening or Saturday morning, tops at the latest.

I will give a brief but, thorough summation on my thoughts on this wonderfully built kit within the next 24 hours. I didn’t get to try all of them but, I’ve got a pretty decent idea on what Augustin is delivering here. Plus, I just want to get this kit into members hands asap as the list is a long one. I can always do a quick refresher at the end once the pass around is over.

Great shaves to all Gents. This razor is not going to disappoint in the least for those that want some vintage and classic retro looking design with a unique twist in Art Deco looks while still exuding that French flair of smooth and artful flowing craftsmanship.

A big thank you once again to Augustin Atelier DURDAN for letting us sample some of these superb creations and this one here, the N*7.

Gus, you give such wonderfully eloquent reviews.  I can't wait till I try it and compare it to others in my den and the La Faulx.  Have fun with the grandkids, mine come in Saturday before they head off to camp.

Wonderful shave, Gus! Thank you for your detailed review. This stood out to me “second shave felt more natural and intuitive” & “just a superb shave with the perfect combo of smooth, easy on skin and deliciously good efficiency”. It looks like you found the perfect blade gap for you Gus, 1.1mm. Can you compare it to any other razors - blade feel wise and ATG? I know it’s early and only a couple of shaves in, but I wanted to get an idea. What razor does it remind you of during the shave? Or it could be like nothing else you tried before? The handle, is it like 12mm or 14mm in width. Is it handle heavy?, I know you said No7 very balanced well.

I believe what Augustin has done with the No7  is brilliant  - showing his artistry in razor design and his French flair in razor style. He masterfully combined all his razor designs, went to the drawing board and took out their best characteristics to cleverly create the captivating No7.

Just by the pictures it's oozing French flair and artistic quality for sure.... and the reviews are eloquent and masterful in their description, makes one feel one with the razor as the words are read.

Morning to all. Just wanted to give a heads up concerning the pass around. I will NOT be modifying the list to ship by region or maintaining or trying to at least make it feasible to keep shipping costs for participants within a certain range. It’s just not possible in its current format with USPS and it would make for me a logistical nightmare in coordinating a predetermined routing sequence. The list will stay as it is unfortunately as there are some members that are practically a stones throw away from me here in the Garden State. It would be unfair to those to be pushed down further on the list who signed up under the premise of “first come, first served” that I stated in the pass around rules & guidelines. I apologize in advance and if there are some that want to decide to pull out of the pass around, by all means it’s within their choice to do so. Just wanted to put that out there. I like to keep all things Even Stevens as they say. Again, my apologies as some won’t see this razor for some time. However, the Gents within the first 6-8 participants are quite good in processing and expediting shave experiences in the past and will, I believe do just as good and perhaps even better. Just be patient Gents, the razor WILL get to everyone who signs up.

Pic below is what will ship, nothing more, nothing less. The box is perhaps the best available for this particular process. It’s called the shoebox container from the USPS. Just the razor kit will be shipped along with an assortment of quality blades for those that want to give a new or different blade from their normal set up a try. PLEASE DO NOT ADD ANYTHING MORE TO THIS PACKAGE. More weight and with the packaging materials I’ve already included (bubble wrap, paper & straw) will only serve to potentially distort the container and possibly become damaged during the shipping & handling process. We all know how wonderfully careful the USPS has been in the past.  Cry I know some of you would love to reciprocate and perhaps throw in a little something to take care of the next guy but, as much as it pains me to say this, I/we appreciate the gentlemanly gesture, I implore you to not do so. Plus, it helps in reducing costs of having to replace the box at every stop and ship point. If it does happen that the box is not viable for holding its contents in a protective & safe manner, just pm me and I will PayPal you the additional costs of packaging materials & container if needed.

Sounds good to me, and again, I appreciate being grandfathered in.  I shave every day so I will probably be able to ship it back out in 4 or 5 days.  My birthday is in August and I'm guessing I'll have it in my hands around that time.  Then if I decide the No.7 is for me all I have to do is convince the wife that this will be the perfect 70th birthday present. LoL

And thanks DFS, Atelier DURDAN , GlazedBoker , and andrewjs18 for making this happen.
