So on the advise of a shaving friend of mine who got the new Asylum Injector Razor from Bullgoose I gave it a try and boy am I glad. I pretty much sold off all my SE razors a few years ago and I had a pretty good collection of both vintage and modern Gems, AC’ and Injectors and only kept one injector which was a Schick Type M Adjustable which I’d use now and then but almost always use a DE razor.

So I got the Asylum razor on the Memorial Day sale and I honestly couldn’t believe the price for a 316 SS razor. Ordered both the Schick Yellows and the B20’s.  Fit and finish on the razor was beyond what I expected at the price I paid.

So this morning on a full 4 days growth which is longer than I normally go ( every other day ) I had a lot of growth. Once having the RX AC I had it in my mind that this would have a lot of blade feel and would be what some would describe as very aggressive.  This razor was nothing like the original RX high Polished I had back then. For one thing it was much more maneuverable and I honestly don’t care for the AC wide head so this was a pleasure from that stand point. Efficiency was what I’d call very good but this thing is almost butter smooth. I was shocked at how much of my 4 day growth it took down on the first WTG pass. I was in a hurry to get to work so I only did one more XTG pass and again very smooth and again I’ll have to say for a SS razor the maneuverability of the razor was surprisingly good as I mostly use Ti razors nowadays.

I want to get a few more shaves in and on a day when I’m not rushing because I feel with some good skin stretching  I’m think I can get a solid BBS in two passes with this razor with my normal 2 days growth. Today’s quick shave yielded a solid DFS with a few areas on my cheek a entry level BBS. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and this may be the biggest sleeper I’ve used in a while.  Loading a blade was very easy so no issues there. I’ll post some thoughts after a couple more shaves.

Also my 3rd shave with a new shave brush with a Shortino Brushworks handle and a Rudy Vey installed natural Shavemac knot which I really like a lot.

I'm too distracted by the awesome software in that picture to notice the razor. Oh there, I see it.

Thanks Frank for your first opinions on the Asylum Injector. I picked up both the RX V2 and the Injector during Bullgoose's sale and they're waiting in the wings for their SOTD.

Hello my friend.. let me know what you think of the razor. I was definitely impressed by this one and I still can’t believe the price.

My initial expectation was it would be a catch and release.

The razor punches way above its weight.

Seriously, I almost didn’t buy one and then the sale came around, and I’m glad I took the plunge.

It’s really efficient and not irritating for my sensitive skin.  4 shaves in and I’m blown away, lasting BBS shaves, no irritation, and it’s just a great shaver.

I would say it the biggest surprise I have had in years.  How on Earth haven’t there been more reviews of this razor, it is off the charts price to performance ratio at $120.

It’s a catch, but I won’t be releasing it.

Injector Blades but you hand load instead of injecting them.

LMAO! Dave trust me you won't regret it. I was actually shocked at how good this razor shaved and I went into this with a somewhat negative attitude as I haven't used many SE razors since selling my Collection. This is the smoothest SE I've used yet and that includes all the Gems, AC's and other injectors and yet it's quite efficient. Maybe it's initial love at first shave but I kinda doubt it. I think this one is the real deal. I mean 4 days of growth and it mowed it down with very little blade feel and I used no pressure. Can't wait to try the B20's and see if it makes any difference in the shave.... wanted to use my Twins but they don't work in this razor as there's no holes in the blade.

Can't wait to hear your impressions of the razor my friend!
