Artisans without Lanolin?

Thanks for the pubmed link. Interesting that it's saying even the standard test is around 2%. After reading that it's 1 in a million, I did some googling to see that lanolin alcohol is(was?) considered the most reactive, and what's in consumer goods far less so. This study seems to say that's not necessarily the case. I was starting to check the ingredients to see if there might be something else causing the irritation.
Again, in my case it's very specific sides of my chin get a minor hive like appearance.
I'm going to wait a week and test another soap I have with Lanolin, and try to narrow it down.

Nero funny you mention the waxy feeling. I was wondering what it was that was causing that with these soaps. I can't say I like it or dislike it. It does make the face feel smooth a heck, but I wouldn't want that everyday at least. Of course, getting a reaction to something is dampening my feelings about that accompanying feeling. Seems like a preference thing.

In general, not having given it a lot of thought, I'm surprised at how many top tier soaps have Lanolin, and how few don't seem to.
Some others I've found now without are B&M Reserve, Oleo Soap Works, and Eleven.

Plus the vendors on this thread, I'll check you out my next visit home, thanks.

As for the general tone of bickering, for my part apologies, I was an ass in my earlier comments, and should known better. There's always a tactful way, and I chose not to use it.

Your trolling again is what's embarrassing to see. Again, the threads get shut down because of your antagonizing comments and insults, not because they are about lanolin in shaving soaps.

Watching people spread false facts and be obstructionist is what's embarrassing.

Actually thanks to Matsilainen Eleven was already on my radar, sounds like great stuff and the scents seem like the perfect balance to my usual T+S.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

What the hell is your vendetta against people who like lanolin in their soaps anyway? Calling people stupid and idiots for it is just mind boggling and straight up asinine if you ask me. We get it, you don't like lanolin which is perfectly fine. Nobody is saying anything bad about that or making fun of you for it. Some people prefer lanolin, big effing deal. Why do you care so much about what other people are using anyway? If it works for them, great. No reason for you to get bent out of shape about it.

I personally have no problems using lanolin and had it in the second SDP formula.  But I also wasn't sure it was a miraculous, essential ingredient either.   I have lots of soap with lanolin and nearly all of the ones I listed without.   All of which perform equally well.   I had just enough people with reactions to it contact me to make the decision to pull it out of the Eleven formula.  

Choice is good, and you have plenty!

I’m not a huge fan of lanolin either. It is comedogenic, which can cause breakouts in some people. I don’t believe any ingredient is sacred anyway. This type of discussion comes up with tallow all the time as well.

Plenty of great soaps have been mentioned that don’t have lanolin, so that’s nice to see as options. If lanolin works for you (and it definitely can as it is an emollient), then certainly keep on enjoying it.
