Something must be wrong with me, I have 9 different soaps and I can't pick one from another. If someone lathered up my brush for me I couldn't tell the difference. Porasco
Fine.
Stirling
Razoroc
Rpsw
Cwsw
Captains choice plus two more I can't think of.

To me all of the above work very good for me.

But … I thought what you just described was the standard procedure for getting a good lather. Huh

Slightly OT. I apologize

Has Mike's been reformulated in the last year or so? I've had several and no way is it top shelf for me. Perhaps its been changed and I should try it again?

Mike's formula has not changed in the past year. It is the exact same from his 2012 launch from what I can tell.

It runs the gamut from some saying it's hard to lather to a dedicated group who still consider it, having tried tons of different soaps, the finest artisan soap made today.

Performance, in my opinion, is top notch enough to now really call it a classic.

I've used way to many soaps in my time wet shaving, but the collection has predominantly become:

Castle Forbes

Barrister and Mann

Mystic Water

... and I'm quite happy with it!

Max, I believe Mike's has never changed his formula. It is an excellent soap. You may just want to try loading for longer to make sure you get enough soap on the brush, or even bloom the soap. The lather is really one of the best around, in my opinion.

Here is a very nice video illustrating what type of lather you can get with Mike's. I believe you have seen it on another forum, though.
Good luck. Shy

great video^ having trouble with mystic water. Tried it both with hard and soft water, and while it seems like i get great slickness, the lather is very bubbly
