which do you prefer?

for me, I'd say 95% of the time, I just rub whatever aftershave balm I'm using for the day into my beard and it's been fine. when I use an alcohol based splash, I'll use my own blend of unscented beard oil so it doesn't clash with the scents in my splash.

I just picked up a tub of unscented beard balm on amazon from honest Amish to give it a try on the days that I use an alcohol splash...it got real good reviews and it was $12.

I use a beard balm at night, and I rub a little of my pre shave salve into it. Seems to work pretty well.

I'm glad people have enjoyed the double usage. It is a nice selling point to have it being a dual-purpose product.

I've been liking CL US salve for this. I use Shea Moisture balm at night.

I just use beard oil from various locations. I have used balms in the past but I find them too "sticky", generally speaking. I oil every morning after my shower...

When I'm sporting a beard I like ........ Olive oil. Very lightly put a few drops in wetted hands and massage in. I think it works great. Usually clean shaven though.

I just started back in September. I just commited to a 6 month no-trim, so we'll see if my opinions change as it gets longer. Righ now, I'm about 2 months or so in, and the longest I've probably gone is 3. So far, I need a Wax in the morning, and I use a balm at night. I've been using Honest Amish Beard Wax, which seems to have good taming properties without being too sticky like most mustache waxes. I've use Bad Andy's balm (which is much closer to an oil) and WSP.

I always tell my customers that the balm (wax based) is for styling and the oil is for conditioning. If you're talking balm as in lotion, then oil/lotion would be interchangeable. Oil being simply the concentrated water-less version of lotion or maybe it's lotion is the hyper-formulated version of oil...? Tongue

used the honest Amish unscented beard balm for the first time today (too early to give my results). I will say, it really gives a nice shine to my beard.
