I hear ya. From what I believe I understand, it may be the picture of an actual person who owns a cigar shop on Havana ... 'Julio's reserve'? If so, he may not shave.

Am I even close to the facts, Pete123 ?

Now that I could see and understand Happy2

This is a great question and is similar to a topic IAMCDB brought up recently. RazorRay is part of Team HCC and does all of the art. To the best of my knowledge, the image on the tub doesn't represent a real person. Our big focus on artwork is coming up with something that enthusiasts will like.

Havana Breeze, Julio's Reserve is the same fragrance that we've always had that was named Havana Breeze.

Julio was a member of the enthusiast community, mainly on FaceBook. He lived in Puerto Rico. He had a big impact on a lot of people. He spent a lot of time interacting with others and sharing great information and products he came across. He was a good friend of mine and one of my first phone calls when facing business decisions. He died suddenly in the past year. He didn't spend his entire career in the cigar business, but did spend a lot of it there.

Always happy to answer any questions.

Well it's been a few days since I posted a shave. Told y'all I was no good at keeping to a journal.

Today was the Henson TiMed, with a Personna Comfort Coated (2) and my new Semogue 1305 Boar. I used Proraso Red, as the scent was calling me.

It turned out to be a beautiful shave. The brush provided very little scritch, especially since I did a lot of painting strokes. The soap (Cream dried into puck form) worked very well, providing a slick base for the shave. As usual, the razor did a great job. In the end, I was very happy with the results and ecstatic with the first Boar outing (since I first started, that is). It was so good, in fact, that I decided to hop on The Gentle Shave and grab another Boar.

Hope everyone's day went well. Time to go find room for another brush, lol. Have a great Tuesday evening DFS![Image: 2061ad1633f4812297767579e237ca8f.jpg]

So I received in the mail today a puck of Ariana and Evans Pedro Fiasco Coconut and tonka Soap from The Razor Company.

The soap is a loose puck, and appears quite soft. It is wrapped in paper with a plastic bag over it. ( I should have taken pictures for this. )

The paper and sticker denoting it is 'coconut' we're damp in appearance (from the moisture in the puck?).

I unwrapped it carefully and pressed the label onto an empty tub. It was then I noticed the color was coming off of the damp feeling label. Yuck!

Since I had gotten that far, I decided to press on and press the soap into the tub. The minute I pressed my thumb into the puck, it squished down like room temperature butter. Quite disgusting and very odd for a shave soap.

That was the point I rinsed off my hands and took a sniff of the very light scent. It's vague coconut and something else (Edit: yep it's Tonka. In the dry-down it's more noticable). Not great, but not horrible.

It's probably on its way to the bin. The appearance is a bit concerning. I'm now wondering if that was the actual moisture level of the soap or if it got some sort of water damage puck?

Happy Wednesday folks.

Eeh, it was a $10 puck of soap. Not a huge loss. I might change my mind and try it. It depends on how it dries out and how the memory of the unwrapping fades. Lol.

The scent was odd, for sure. I couldn't recognize the Tonka until it dried down. Not the case with my Sir Henry's, that smells like Tonka from the dry puck.

Well, I decided to try the A&e Pedro fiasco. After applying the lather I got a burning sensation. That pretty much stopped me in my tracks.

I guess it's all for the best. Still, I would have liked to say that it was a good soap after receiving the icky puck. It obviously wasn't meant to be. C'est la vie.

I quickly switched soaps and finished out a great shave with the Henson TiMed. Closely shaven and ready to go (to bed, lol).

Have a great evening DFS.
