I'd like to try my hand at making my own handles and want to pair them with my favorite brush knot. I really like the 25mm black wolf synthetic fan knots featured in wolf whiskers or envy shave brushes but i have no idea where to buy these knots myself. im picky about the knot because i want these to be brushes that i actually use, not just keep around as eye candy. anyone know where i can get these from?

I looked at what maggards has to offer and they dont have any synthetic fan knots. only bulb knots. Im looking for this one offered by wolf whiskers: http://www.wolfwhiskers.com/uploads/4/3/...2_orig.jpg

I had also posted this to the wicked_edge subreddit but haven't received an answer to this one.

That knot looks very similar to one that's currently being sold by Frugal Shave:

I had purchased the knot from Frugal Shave and I can confirm that is not the same knot used in Envy Shave or Wolf Whiskers brushes. The one i had purchased from Frugal Shave seems like it has scratchier bristles and lower loft than the Envy Shave knots. I do not prefer it over the black wolf fan knots.

If that is the case, then I have wasted $15 :/

Well i wouldn't say that you've wasted $15. Again, I purchased mine from Frugal Shave. There is no way for me to tell whether or not you've purchased the same 25mm black wolf fan knot used in Wolf Whiskers and Envy Shave brushes.

Not necessarily. Wait & see. Give it a try. Wink

Some of the Black Wolf and Tuxedo style fan knots crop up from time to time. The Golden Nib has some:
http://www.thegoldennib.com/wet-shaving/...knots.html

However, I don’t think anyone is selling the same knot as the Black Wolf, and quality-wise the only equivalent is probably the Tuxedo — which does not come in a fan shape. (APShaveCo did a limited run of Tuxedo knots in a fan shape when they first launched, I don’t know why it’s not a mainstay.) Undecided

From looking over the pictures and based solely on that the frugal knot tips are white and the black stands out. While evershave tips look silverish like wolfhiskers and tuxedo knot. I was wanting to get one of theirs eventually so look forward to hearing how it is.

I like ww knot over tuxedo knot. The tuxedo has too much backbone I think. It's more stiff and prickly then my ww fan knot.

Have you gotten it, Sourav? How is it?
