I keep things simple, Vintage Razors under $40.00 each, few Brush’s all under $30.00, but close out soaps, and don’t stick up.

So how I get good Shaves, when I pay attention to TECHNIQUE.

Think buy high quality Blsde is importantly, learning to TRASH DULL BLADE more frequently.

Keep thing simple.?

Well, as for me, I am NOT a minimalist. My wife is constantly trying to simplify our lives as we are now well into retirement. When I ask her what she wants for birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. she will say that she does not need anything. She wears my old hand-me-down shirts, PJs, etc. even though I beg her to buy new stuff that fits her well. She borrows books at the local library as she hates buying books to read once. Reading is her only hobby.

I tend to be the opposite. I love exploring new things to keep my mind active. That is one reason I got into traditional wet shaving. I have learned a lot about razors, blades, brushes, honing, soaps, etc. along the way.. However, that means I have brought "stuff" into the house, much to my wife's chagrin.

Count me in. I get some sort of perverse pleasure out of enjoying great results with relatively cheap stuff and limiting my self to the size of my shave den (see avatar).

Of course I find ways to cheat all the time (shave stuff at gym and in travel kit don't count, stuff I am going to take to a new, better lady friend's house don't count, etc.), but I am looking forward to using up enough current stuff so that I have nothing on my bathroom counter and everything in the den. I think that means only four aftershaves, three soaps (a fourth doubles as hand soap in a wooden bowl-see how I cheat?); one SR, one SE safety razor, one lather bowl (do I really need a scuttle too? ) and two brushes.

Now I do have a problem. I have two more aftershaves in a bottom drawer, unopened, that I pretend don't exist: Avon Wild Country and Pino Silvestre. I don't know how I rationalize those. I guess I think that when two of the current four aftershaves run out, those will be the replacements. Somehow that makes everything OK.

I am really temped by the SOTD photos.......so much beautiful gear and so many wonderful products.

A lot like women.......so many beautiful women........

I do not deny that at all. She has put up with me for 52 years.
