This is a response to a question in another thread. Felt better to start a thread here to answer.

Here's some info I copied from another site about the razor. They are basically an old type head when they were thin and flatter than newer models of Gillette. Positive blade exposure to my feeling but smooth shavers. Included a few pics of my Shell Model.

Very interesting design. As Danny pointed out, no stack height making for a nimble shaver. The clamping has to keep the blade from chatter. That rigid setup is verry appealing to me as my favorite heads are the designs that make for a rigid clamp. Just wish the handle was longer. But man they are beauties. Solid metal with that scroll work. Whew baby.

I like looking at this styling of those razors.
When they came out they were some fancy pants razors.
If they're a a thin top cap I guess they shave like a single ring?

Yes, similar to my Single Ring and Bulldog

My ABC Empire Set arrived yesterday evening and I'm ecstatic about how it looked and how well it cleaned up. Only missing a blade bank which can be rectified easily.

I took a small section to see how it would respond and then a little bigger section.....

After about 10 minutes with some Autosol Polish she is ready to shave with and display ! Thus was just a quick going over and may detail it better later but I'm happy with how it looks and see no brassing anywhere which is a big surprise I'll take !

Thanks, I'd have to research that. The razor may be but I'm pretty sure the cases are brass and plated. I know I've seen some cases with heavy wear that show brass. Maybe someone else has more knowledge/info on them.

Absolutely Stunning, Dave! They sure could make a razor look fantastic. I can't wait to read more as you will hopefully give us more history and a shave video, I bet! Well done you!
