My Final Thoughts

I truly enjoyed this razor. Excellent efficiency, smoothness, blade feel, and relative comfort. This razor gave BBS shaves in two passes; great efficiency. I prefer the standard plate with lather channels as it felt a bit lighter than the one without. The open comb is also excellent, and I would need to have both plates. For comparison, I found the Bandit open comb plate to be just as efficient but more comfortable than the open comb Blackbird plate.

Razor is boxed up, labeled, and ready to go to Bullyson

Thank you Vlasta and andrewjs18 for the opportunity to experience this excellent razor.

I received the Alpha Bandit and will be using it most likely tonight. It seems the passarounds I’m participating in have all fallen so close together I may need to switch around in one as I only shave twice, sometimes three times per week at most.

hi all, this razor arrived to me safely yesterday.

first, I'll state that this razor is an absolute UNIT! It might be the heaviest razor I've held before. My scale reads 4.9oz with the base plate that doesn't have any lather channels in it. for me, this is a negative. I tend to like razors on the lighter side.

just on initial observations, I noticed some scratches on the top cap and it looks like 2 of the end teeth on the open comb base plate are slightly bent, leading me to believe it was likely dropped at some point..

I hope to start using this razor next week and will provide feedback after then.

thanks to Vlasta for allowing us to pass this razor kit around!

I finally got around to partially giving this razor a whirl last night to shave around my ears and line up my sideburns after my head shave.

as mentioned previously, with the non-lather port base plate, this razor is an absolute tank. if I recall correctly, it weighed in at 4.9oz on my scale.

I loaded a new personna med prep blade in. one thing I noticed is that I had issue getting the blade to go over both of the pins in the top cap..one went in fine but the other was a struggle. I eventually just put it together with the base plate and screwed the handle on and it was fine. I'm not sure if this is an 'issue' or just an oddity with the blade I was using...

Anyways, the handle was comfortable and I didn't notice any issues with the base plate not having lather ports, but then again I didn't do a full shave with the razor so that is hard to properly report on for now. I'm not sure if I like the look of the base plate without the lather ports cut into it - it just looks....weird and like a big block of metal that does nothing.

I like the engraving on the base plate and the bottom of the handle.

I'll report further when I do a shave over the next few days.

thanks again for sending it out for us to try, Vlasta

Any info or updates on potential release of the Bandit? Will it be for this year or next?

I had my first face shave with the bandit last night using the base plate without any lather ports. I had about 10-14 days worth of growth, my average for face shaves, lol. what I mentioned previously still stands: the razor is heavy and not having any cut outs in the base plate just looks weird to me.

the razor shaved just fine and I had 0 issues rising the razor clean. I had doubts that razor would rinse clean without the lather ports but I was shockingly surprised. In fact, I'm usually having to unscrew the top caps 1-2 times during a shave to fully rinse a razor clean from the clogged up hairs, but I didn't have to do this once with this base plate.

I guess, after all, lather ports might be more for aesthetics and for keeping the weight down rather than having any actual functionality...maybe?

my next shave will be with one of the other base plates!

the pass around has ended and the razor is currently with me. I'll be using the SB plate with lather ports tonight.
