My after shave routine is rinse with cold water, then alcool after shave , in most of them I added some menthol crystals and I finish with some Nivea moisturizer for men

I wasn't a fan of alcohol based aftershaves until I discovered Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements. They contain glycerin, aloe, alum and menthol for a luxuriously face feel well into the day. I can still feel the conditioning effects of the aftershave I applied 12 hours ago. I'm using Cold Spices these days which is a near dead ringer for the original Shulton Old Spice. Highly recommended product line.

I love alcohol AS splashes! I love the sting and drying effect. My routine usually is cold water rinse, alum, cold water rinse again, alcohol splash (I only apply balm in the fall/winter). Works for me to help close up any cuts, prevent redness, prevent little pimples, and control oil on my face. My grand father used an alcohol splash for 60 some years and it didn't make hime look any older. We'll all be fine, and plus I don't want to look 20 when I'm 80!

I always do a cold water rinse followed by an alcohol based splash, and then finish up with a balm (even in the summer). It's worked out quite well for me. I know some also enjoy witch hazel, though for me witch hazel has a very strong...disagreeable scent (thought maybe that's just me).

Nope, not just you. I have heard WH described as scentless, but to me the scent is nasty. I scent mine with essential oils, and add other ingredients to make a basic AS that I use when I am going to be using a cologne or EDT after the shave. Good scent, all the good properties for my skin and face, and the scent does not last long enough to clash with anything else I choose to use.

plain witch hazel stinks, it's not just you. I added lavender EO to mine in 1oz batches.

I have never minded the scent of witch hazel.  That being said, like Andrew, besides regular witch hazel, I have several small bottles of it where I have added different EOs or FOs.

I use alcohol based aftershaves in the summer.  In the winter I use balms.

I typically use an alcohol-based aftershave. My usual post-shave is witch hazel, wait until that dries, apply an aftershave...wait until that dries and then apply an SPF moisturizer. The moisturizer piece, which essentially acts like a balm + SPF, I added about 2 years ago. I had a form of skin cancer on my face most likely caused by sun exposure so I started using something with SPF on a daily basis after that experience.

I have the same routine as Monty on most days.
