The Henson Shaving AL13 is reported to be the best selling razor worldwide, whereas the Focus Tritok razors are barely known outside these rarified circles.
The Henson Razor comes in 3 variations: Mild, Medium, and Aggressive. The Focus Tritok also comes in 3 variations: Flat, Concave, and Slant. Both the Henson and the Focus have only a very slight blade reveal. While the Henson bends the blade downward at a severe angle, the Focus holds the blade quite flat.
I have owned and shaved with the Henson Razor both Medium and Aggressive, and the Focus Tritok Razor both Concave and Slant. I have not tried either the Henson Mild or the Focus Tritok Flat, as mild razors (with the exception of the Gillette Tech) just don't cut it for me.
I've owned my Focus Tritok Concave for several years, and am very satisfied with both the closeness and the comfort of its shave. I've tried both the V1 and V2 Henson Razors, and though the V2 is a marked improvement over the V1, neither the V1 Medium or the V2 Medium or V2 Aggressive give me a close shave. Comfortable, yes; close, no.
I have been told that in order to get a good shave from the Henson, I would need to change my shaving technique. But I don't want to do that. I'm almost 76, and my methods have served me well. Whether shaving my face or driving my car, my techniques are well honed by time and trial, and I'm not wanting to change them just to suit a trending fashion.
So I just sold my third Henson Razor, and am unlikely to buy another. I still have and use my Focus Tritok Concave, and am unlikely to ever sell it. That is my tale of two aluminum razors. I hope you find it useful. "That's all, folks."
