Could never understand the logic behind a ban when it is so easy to come back using another ID.
All you really lose out on is a little accumulated BST goodwill, if applicable.
Surely it's a little more effective to hand out a posting freeze where you can't post.
First infraction, one week, then 2 weeks then a month, and so on.

I agree. But they just ban you and move on without discussion. I remember a well used and oft repeated quote from luvmysuper (which is ironic in itself) is "this discussion is becoming circular and repetitive and no new information presented. I am deleting it"

I'm so glad andrewjs18 fired up this site. Where would us "legion of the banned" go without him?

They can ban by IP Address (your machine number on the Internet), not just user name.

Personally, I think banning should be for gross misconduct. Short term bans would be for lesser offenses. For example, I received a 2 week ban (more of a suspension) for failing to include my use
user name and date in a For Sale listing.

Let us be rational; 2 weeks suspension for simply forgetting a note with name and date is really a bit much; unaware of a case where it has made a difference, truth told. Simply move the offending post to a fixit subforum is more than sufficient

B&B seems unflatteringly similar to municipalities that prey upon their citizenry by ruthlessly fining the powerless whilst colluding with the connected to rig government financing in favour of the haves.

There is little I miss about the place but it does irritate that was never informed why banned, given an opportunity to make a defence nor make an appeal. Speaks volumes about their honour as men and the founder's photo confirms that perspective

That's absurd. (Removed the rest. Through my typical over explaining, it looks like in advocating for them. Absolutely NOT!).

Same here. I didn't read the updated BST rules and they deleted my thread and banned me from the BST thread for 30 days.

You can use a browser app like DuckDuckGo

Not sure about that. I would expect them to block it at your router IP address. So that would be any machine on your home network.
