"88"

This arrived in yesterday's Post. from my favorite shave vendor. Czech & Speake "88" Shave Soap. I have the Oxford & Cambridge and love it, so I gave this one a try. The presentation is incredible, as well it should be for the price. It comes in a heavy, completely lathe turned aluminum bowl, anodized with matching lid ... Very classy! I just may slightly prefer the scent to Oxford & Cambridge, but only slightly!

Look for it in my next SOTD!

Yes, the bowl is expensive, but it is beautifully machined and will last more than one lifetime. And yes, I will only be buying refills in the future!

He just treated himself to a really nice soap and dish, knowing full well what it cost. It would be ok to keep your thoughts about the cost to yourself. In the past week you've posted the exact opposite argument. Someone called you out for nitpicking others in a post a little while ago. I'm seeing a trend and am in full agreement with the person in the other post.

I asked because I have some in front of me, used it, and while it has that excellent C&S after shave feel, can't really place the scent as it seems out of odds with about everything.

 It would be ok to keep your thoughts about the cost to yourself.  

The monetary part of this hobby, the ROI for those who view it as a hobby, is an essential part of this hobby. It pervades every aspect from those who seek the most cost efficient means to shave seeking the lowest cost per shave to those with massive collections of high end brushes and the finest razors - both end of the spectrum. That is why I asked it.The OP's response was in line with that monetary aspect of the hobby and appropriate. The machining of the soap dish and the lifetime aspect of expenditure is an important aspect in decision making as both an investment and collectible. All opinions are welcome. If he had bought a Plissson 20 HMW in Horn for $800, I'd want to know the same information.

Financials are intimately involved as it intertwines with the hardware, software, and collectible aspects across the pricing spectrum from the cheapest blades and soaps to the most high end hardware and consumables, and how the financial aspects are important to the individual. It all plays together holistically. There is far more to it than just scents, cushion, glides, shaves/blade, etc.
