Well. I fell off again... A whole 15 days, I think? I got some (potentially) bad health news and used it as an excuse to cheer myself up (by buying a soap). I didn't spend a lot, it was only one soap... But I broke my restraint... again. I'm no good at this "self control" thing, I guess.

I fully get it, as like Eric (ewk) I have had that happen several times over the last few years.

And recall what Dave in KY wrote back a few pages, "Restraint is attempted for different reasons but each person. Mine wasn't for fiscal reasons but a slowing of ridiculous shave spending. The correction I know has already helped my view on what future purchases should be so I don't go crazy again. Never intended to halt buying items in life. Again, I know you were joking but thought I'd just highlight what my goal was which I feel was successful in getting a reset in mindful/thinking of purchases rather than automatic mindless buying."  (Post #162) You had some great thoughts there as well.

And I stick by my assertion (to myself, as I can't speak for anyone else!), all things in moderation is better than buying all the things I see. As Mike HighSpeed has shown us in his reflections on buying, Love People, Use Things Because the Opposite Never Works, which is a book by Millburn and Nicodemus. Use your things to help you recover so you can love your people, including you! (Okay, I think I am getting too touchy feely! I hope you get what I mean without any naval gazing while holding ridiculous yoga poses!)

I hope whatever it is, you overcome it and come out stronger.  I find that just powering through it helps me, whatever it might be because the alternative usually sucks.  Also, a little restraint in restraining oneself helps now and then too.  All things in moderation, including moderation. And on the note of falling off the band wagon of Restraint, I decided that I could not deny my selfish desire to own this brush!

Poseidon's Lair. I love the deep blue color, the shape, the name, and the knot is one of my favorite badger knots, a Maggard Razors SHD badger. It will be my first Wolf Whiskers handle.

Dave in KY you probably have a lot of room up there on the band wagon! You and any others can probably stretch out for a nap or have more elbow room  Tongue While the rest of us get dragged along and try to scramble back up!

Eric, is that a scented cream?  Is your wife able to tolerate that one?

Nope, no fragrance added. It has a slight scent due to the ingredients, but Frank did not add any scent substances. My schnoz hardly detects anything, and my wife says it passed the her sniff test. Michelle's Sensitive Skin (Mystic Water Soaps) has more scent, but again it is from the ingredients and smells nicely natural.

Thanks for the kind words Eric MaineYooper .  I think for most of us, one of the big rewards of forum participation is from time-to-time seeing that something you've said has done someone some good.  As for me, I'm still buying, but it's like the faucet is running at a trickle.  For me, it's more more relaxing now, and I like it this way.  However, I definitely grew into it.  Only time will tell how long it takes to grow out of it.  Evilgrin
