OK. So the end of May brought to me the Blackland Vector (stainless steel, machine finish; this is an exercise in frugality, after all). Just arrived in the mail yesterday. Had my first shave with it this morning.

Oh My Flippin Goodness.

First stroke -- "Did I put a blade in this thing? Is the sharp side facing the back?"
First pass - 80%-90% of stubble removed.
Second pass -- almost unnecessary; more of a touchup

My thirst is quenched. My razor satisfaction is complete. My tank is full. I can make it to the end of the year, and probably well beyond. All set. Strapped in and ready.

MaineYooper  -- don't you dare post anything in BST. I'm serious.

I have been so thoroughly enjoying the Karve Overlander and the Yates 921-M that I let the hype about the scarcity of Israeli Reds (Personna Platinum Chromes made in the Nazareth, Israel plant) take root and started scouring the interwebs for some at reasonable prices. I found some as well as a decent price on some that are most likely from the German plant, so now have a mrdoug stash of 200-300 of my favorite blade! (just teasing you, Paul! You swung me over to the thought that if this is my best blade, just buy a bunch and quit putzin' around with others.)

Lol. Hey, life is too short to use subpar blades (or anything, really) when you could easily remedy it.

The problem comes if you're indecisive. Then you end up buying 500 of three or four different varieties. It'll take you two lifetimes to use them all, but you want to have enough of any given one... Just in case you decide it is "the one". Lol

Seems like you've narrowed it down to one type. I say, you made a good choice.

I've been thinking about the restraint for a month.
Problem is I've got to catch it between purchases to make it workout.
 haha.

Yes, the Reds and the Nacets are my faves. And you introduced me to the Comfort Coated, and I have almost, almost, bought some! I think I will when I next order something from a place that has them. Actually, Amazon has them, so there's goes that restraint! I guess I should say, the next time I shop at a shaving store like Maggards, lol!

I have some of Dave's faves, the Wizamets, and I could experiment with them, but...what if they are The One?! He was right on the Prolines for me, so I am treading lightly there!

And Keith, I agree! I have more success at Not Buying right after a big purchase, ha ha! I have that BST sale going right now (shameless plug: many nice SE razors at great prices!) and to keep from spending the proceeds, I transfer it to my bank account. When there is a balance in the PayPal account, it is too easy for me to "justify" a purchse.

Eric it does seem easier to spend if the ole PayPal is holdin' funds.
