I always disassemble. 3 pieces I pat dry and leave apart to complete the drying process. Any of my adjustables get a thoroughly cleaning after every use. Blow them dry, wipe them down, turn them upside down, without the cap, to drain. It takes time but worth it. You can't get inside them tho, so additional steps aren't that big of a deal, to me.

Yes no expections for me. DE, SE, and shavettes. Then on a magnet to dry.

What does the magnet do to the blade?

nothing that a nice 3d printed, or plastic razor case couldnt do. I use it to air dry. Ill first hand it off the edge then slide it over. Just a lot of effort and injury risk keeping them exposed.

Ha! I had an adjustable museum piece that didn't shave all that well.  It was called Janus!

I am spoilt by great (for me) gear.  There is no room in my den for any razors suffering performance issues.

You tried a Sailor?

MC on the way - Murat says last week of September.  But with a S/N higher than 1 (maybe 2, dare I hope?  Big Grin )...

Blade out, disassembled (as practical, depending), rinsed and dried - all of them (Muramasa, Mergress, Fat Boy, Slim, Rex, and Ti Taiga).

As you've recently noticed, words get stretched, and numbers get inflated to suit the artisan's/retailers need to sell gear. It is a beast that must be fed, words and numbers be damned. That is the cynic in me.

I've studied the 2 razors closely. If there is a difference in the finish, it is lost to my eye. The grinds on the top cap of the MC are laser straight and parallel to the bar, unlike the prototype. The grinds are straight but not parallel to the bar. It can be seen in the close up of the caps.

Again tho, I don't have a production 21. Maybe someone that does can comment on my photos?

Good ol' fashioned marketing bollocks, gotta love it!
Thanks for the lowdown... in that case, it looks like this is just a way to price the 2021 Sailor the same as the 2020 Sailor.
Still, a hell of a cool looking razor. I now know what to expect...looks like there won't be any extra cartwheels in my future.

But it has a gold ring. It’s precioussss.

Seriously, though, it is a special version of a very special razor. Would be easy to point out that the differences may not have cost close to the $200 price increase, or that the razor is not materially different, but when you are buying something like a Rocnel Sailor you’ve already decided you are happy to pay a premium for the product - small production, rarity, high quality, standout design - and I think many buyers will not quibble about whether the materials and labour stack up against the price. That’s not really what they are paying for. It likely means something to them that this was made by Murat himself, whether that makes any difference to the razor or not, and it is less common and for many better looking than the standard razor. The all-steel version is still available at $490 anyway, and with the production volumes I do not think Murat will be buying a Ferrari with the $690 per piece, less the costs.

It is a rather nice thing. And, as Henry Royce famously said, “the quality will remain long after the price is forgotten”. That’s all there really is to say about it, I think.

I m not sure there is a way to verify the first part, although the second part is very true.
That's not a gold ring btw...it's plated.
The one with the real 22K gold adjuster ring is $1500 or thereabouts.
