Yeah, I don't know..the latest MC series looks like a raw deal. The standard edition this time round also looks like it is closing the gap between the MC. Brass instead of gold plating, comes with a stand as well, for $200~ less. If I were a wagering man...

This is most certainly something that can’t vary from razor to razor. I’ve messaged him on Instagram, but being that he and Phil could careless about getting my first razor sorted, I’m not optimistic. [Image: 0243aeea13a6997aa053ef6176d19569.jpg]

Dang...that is painful to read. I totally agree with you on all points. His answer to the off center text is not a good look for the production and worse for the MC. Those things should be perfect.

Keep us posted. Let's you and I update here with progress (or not) because it sounds like we are both navigating the same uncharted waters of international returns. I hope like hell it is not made painful. Time consuming...I dont really care as long as I'm made whole.

I don't get it.  Seems like a simple task to laser align centers of text and anchor, etch them both at the same point in the process, and then calibrate.  Both are etched on the same handle part correct?  The answer you got to your question makes no sense.

Murat should pay a bit more attention to detail in the future.  The Rocnel line is not cheap.  I suspect he will act on the feedback here and get it straight (no pun intended) in the future.  After all this is not the first year of production, it is the 5th? Too late in the game for QC to be an issue.

While I am at it I must mention my disappointment that LOOT did not get his promised #01 in the new model line.  After his unwavering support and advocacy for Murat and his work this seems like a slap in the face.  I would not even own one if not for LOOT and his stellar recommendations and reviews.  Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with my 2020 but Murat lost some mojo with the misalignment issue and by not keeping his promise to let 2022 #01 go to LOOT .   I'll wager that hundreds were sold based on his reviews.

Thanks for the condolences, Mr Sledge Sledge

Needless to say, I am beyond disappointed. A few pages back I mentioned not counting my chickens because unfortunately this isn't the first time. My #3 '21 Prototype was supposed to be #1. I manage to secure a verbal commitment to get #1 Titanium Sailor, if there is ever such a beast. I figured that was fair.

The '22 mix up puts me in an awkward spot. I am fairly certain I will never see that razor and #44 adds no value to my collection. I have not used the razor and won't. It was not bought to be a shaver. Not the end of the world, it's just a razor I suppose. I don't guess I need all of them. Congrats to the bloke that gets a pretty pleasant surprise.

Has anyone had a shave with the 22 MC?
These days, the 21 MC is all I use. This razor has turned me into a low settings fiend.
Getting very pleasant close shaves on '2' for some reason.

I never looked at that sailor inscription till I read about the misalignment
issues now... and mine is centred. (very glib response from M, but this is a hallmark
of communication in that part of the world...caveat emptor and all that)

Another thing that bugs me is why he keeps changing the writing on this razor...turkey,
turkiye...just figure out a design convention and stick to it.

After reading the last couple of pages, I hope things will turn around for the better.

We hold these razors to such high esteem and they should be, because they are among the best of what is offered.

Especially for what we pay, things should be maintained in a qualitative standard, but to be honest it looks like it has been less than ideal. Otherwise impermissible, things are falling through the cracks so to speak. Not entirely unforeseeable, as such things can occur whilst a company expands, oversights can happen but still...

Not to beat a dead horse, but if my razor showed up with the inscription off centered and janked up, you'd be right to see my face beet red. Nor would I be happy being promised a certain serial number, and getting something entirely different, especially for an important collection of sentimental value.

If those things happened to me personally, I would try to exchange it for something else and make it right. I'm not sure of his policies though.

The country's spelling has been changed to Turkiye because it "represents and expresses the culture, civilization and values of the Turkish nation in the best way," the country said in an announcement, so Murat probably had no choice but to roll with the dictate.  Methinks some bureaucrat with too much time on his hands came up with that idea.  Waste of time and certainly cost everyone a bundle to change printed and manufactured material bearing the country name.

I agree with your take on a design convention.  Improvements/fixes are sometimes necessary if something isn't up to snuff but if Murat is going to add a visible feature to differentiate one year model from the next a change to knurling or material would have been a good choice rather than another etch.

Imagine the hype if he released a titanium version.  I would pony up for that one in a heartbeat as long as smaller details like etching alignment were not ignored.

When Murat first announced the 22MC he clearly said the numbers would be assigned according to when each order was confirmed. So I feel it would be quite wrong if he agreed to give you #1 when you weren’t the first to submit an order. Of course if you made your order based on an agreement that yours would be #1 then it’s also wrong that he didn’t do it, but I rather think he should not have agreed this in the first place.

I don’t much care what number mine is, but I do care that promises are kept and the first promise Murat made was that razor #1 would go to the first person to order it. Fair’s fair, right?

Not stellar all round, really.

EDIT: just a thought, but perhaps you could sell your #44 to the Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton. He always uses #44 on his cars, even when he is entitled to use #1 as reigning world champion.

I understand the 2022MC and the standard 2022L are identical. The $200 price difference is for the ‘Master Collection’ branding and supposedly being made separately by a more experienced worker (or by Murat). There is no tangible value for the additional $200 - only bragging rights, I suppose (if you think paying $200 more than everyone else is something to brag about) - and I agree that is a disappointment. The 2021 MC was differentiated from the standard model in a few significant ways.

And it seems that the 2022MC is not necessarily made to a higher standard - maybe the standard ‘mass production’ process will result in more consistent quality, as is usually the case with higher volume production items.

Honestly I’m not sure what Murat was thinking, but I am sure most customers will now adopt a wait and see approach before ordering a future MC model.

I’m sure it is a superb shaver, regardless. Just one that can be had for $200 less.

You have a valid point, I suppose. I didn't ask to jump any line (not a claim you made). I have no idea when he started the list, or even if there was a list. Your post is the first I heard of a list. All I know is when someone first posted a photo of the '22 MC in this thread, I immediately messaged Murat on IG and asked for #1. He agreed and I left it alone. If he had told me it was about to ship, I would have reminded him about #1. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Doo doo happens brother. I am sure it was just an oversight, like the misaligned etch. I really don't need a 3rd Sailor that is essentially the same, unless it was #1. So I'm not calling for an pitchfork and torch march to Turkey (I refuse to conform) to lynch Murat. I will figure out how to be made whole, with Murat's help or not, or someone is going to get a pretty nice PIF. However, it is kinda nice to have this conversation in public to dispel any notions of special treatment for ol LOOT. Or that ol LOOT is getting the best stuff for free/discount to push the gear to you mutts (affectionate, for the most part. *LOOT eyes ExtraProtein ).

As to #44...Lewis who? I trust no man with a fenderless car. Leads me to believe he is a little afraid to get dirty and trade paint. If it ain't rubbin', it ain't racin'.

I did have that thought though. I tried to sell it to my friend Big G george1906. He is in Atlanta. Seems like 44, in Atlanta, is a unicorn. I tried to make it seem like it was his idea even. I think he saw thru my BS tho.

I'm almost afraid to admit this seeing how things turned.... Murat specifically said he was looking out for his best customer LOOT and was sending me the #1 MC just to take the heat off Loot...............
