Nothing wrong with that. I've blown them dry in the same manner.

The main thing is keep them dry, I guess. That's why I always leave them apart and the razor upside down. Any water in the barrel has a chance to drain. Gillettes get left open, standing on the doors.

Actually, takes about as much time to do it as to say it!  Big Grin  Routine for all my stainless razors (stain-less is not stain-proof), but I confess just for consistency all the copper/bronze/titanium crowd get the same thread lubrication, just because I can't bear the thought of moving metal mechanical parts in contact going without. So my razors will probably last 10 lifetimes instead of 9.   Tongue

One week into the Rocnel. Been fantastic. Now trying out different blades -- had initial success with GSB, didn't enjoy a King C Gillette that much, but am really now enjoying Gillette Yellows -- might now be the favorite. But it's really the razor that has won me over.

Following up on this project, Scott Bungay from Marley Machine Works (Victoria, BC Canada) fabricated a stand for my 2022, and in a word it's outstanding!  I sent the exact dimensions for the OEM stand from Rocnel, and with some back and forth we came up with something that fit the razor and what was available for metal blanks - the original was 48mm wide, and Scott had no SS blanks that wide so we settled on 44mm, height is the same as the OEM (~25mm). The critical measurement was the handle opening - 15.40mm, which allows 0.1mm clearance (0.05mm either side) for the 15.30mm handle.  Shoulder is shorter (7mm vs 16mm on the OEM) to save weight - consequently a steeper cone (original stand weighs a hefty 270g, custom weighs in at a still substantial 181.5g, but 88.5g lighter and more svelte).  Stand is drilled through for drainage, and it has a slightly better polish than the original.  I actually think it looks better than the original (less massive), and fits the style of the razor better.  YMMV.  Cost was $120 USD (including shipping), which I think is in line for a one-of custom milled to 0.01mm stand.  Speaking of which, a variety of materials is available, including Aluminum, Titanium, Surgical Stainless (as this one) and Damascus, so prices can vary - and also speaking of which, a contact brought up the possibility of a group buy which should reduce the cost.  If anyone was interested, I would be happy to communicate with Scott (having no idea if he would be interested or even capable of sizing up production).  I, however, am happy as a clam that I was able to finally get a stand that looks great and fits the razor, because Rocnel I suspect is never going to have individual stands for sale, and the odd ball sizing of the Sailor handle makes finding an exact fit for a stand an improbable commercial Unicorn.

Thanks for the follow-up, Mr Mouche. I agree, your stand is very nice. I could use a couple of those, with different socket diameters for mine. Not sure if that would complicate a group buy or not.

Looks great LOOT Inclusion of drain hole is a big leg up over the original.

Big Grin I get the impression that MMW is a pretty small operation (as in, Scott), and that he puts a lot of hand work into his projects, so I'm not even sure a group buy to reduce costs is even feasible.  What he CAN do is take your exact specifications and create them in metal (and he apparently has some understanding of razors and razor stands - he certainly has a firm grasp of machining and engineering standards).  He charges what he charges I suspect because each piece he does is hand-made unique, with a deal of personal attention, and I'm not sure he's even interested in expanding.  I couldn't find anything else to match this - certainly no big machine company would take something like this on, and even if they would, the run-up would be prohibitively expensive for one piece (or likely even several dozen).  I forget who recommended MMW, but I'm sending out a general "thanks," because otherwise I'd still be surfing the Internet to find something approximate (and admittedly, you could just lay the razor on a counter or hang it on a razor stand, for a lot less than a custom-machined stand).  But good to have that option.
