Following up on this project, Scott Bungay from Marley Machine Works (Victoria, BC Canada) fabricated a stand for my 2022, and in a word it's outstanding! I sent the exact dimensions for the OEM stand from Rocnel, and with some back and forth we came up with something that fit the razor and what was available for metal blanks - the original was 48mm wide, and Scott had no SS blanks that wide so we settled on 44mm, height is the same as the OEM (~25mm). The critical measurement was the handle opening - 15.40mm, which allows 0.1mm clearance (0.05mm either side) for the 15.30mm handle. Shoulder is shorter (7mm vs 16mm on the OEM) to save weight - consequently a steeper cone (original stand weighs a hefty 270g, custom weighs in at a still substantial 181.5g, but 88.5g lighter and more svelte). Stand is drilled through for drainage, and it has a slightly better polish than the original. I actually think it looks better than the original (less massive), and fits the style of the razor better. YMMV. Cost was $120 USD (including shipping), which I think is in line for a one-of custom milled to 0.01mm stand. Speaking of which, a variety of materials is available, including Aluminum, Titanium, Surgical Stainless (as this one) and Damascus, so prices can vary - and also speaking of which, a contact brought up the possibility of a group buy which should reduce the cost. If anyone was interested, I would be happy to communicate with Scott (having no idea if he would be interested or even capable of sizing up production). I, however, am happy as a clam that I was able to finally get a stand that looks great and fits the razor, because Rocnel I suspect is never going to have individual stands for sale, and the odd ball sizing of the Sailor handle makes finding an exact fit for a stand an improbable commercial Unicorn.
